Average GPA for 1st quarter freshman

What's a rough estimate of the gpa for 1st qtr freshman? Just curious.

i highly doubt that statistic would even be useful. i mean, you're looking at all sorts of majors with all sorts of difficulties, countless combinations of classes and professors, and many other factors. it would make more sense if you were to look at, say, first quarter bioE majors or something more specific.

personally my first quarter was my worst one yet. not that it was terrible, but, i've improved a lot since then xD

3.0

2.789732 according to www.idontknowwhatimtalkingabout.com

out of curiosity, was that your freshman gpa flopsy? it seems so random, do you have a source? i remember trying to search before but not really getting anywhere and plus i suck at searching

does gpa of the rest of the freshman year usually increase or decrease?

...there is no "usually"

damnnnnnnn I HATE MY GRADES THIS QUARTER. They suuuuuuuuuuuuck!! how can i find the class average? myucla doesn't say.

*other than prof/TA?

you can't, unless it's posted.

Now that I think about it, this quarter was CAKE. But I *ed up regardless of that. Oh well, the important thing is that I learned my lesson and won't * up for stupid reasons like that anymore.

now you see why my first quarter was my worst so far ;)

Yes, flopsy is right, about a 3.0.

Some freshman take very basic courses (some even take 3 easy GEs, English Composition, intro classes) which easily rewardes them with a 4.0, and thus entry to Alpha Lambda Delta / Phi Eta Sigma. After a few quarters, their GPA will go down, and the magnitude of this drop is correlated on their hard work and aptitude.

On the other hand, some people screw up really bad first quarter, despite taking easy courses. People even get Cs and Ds on GE, which is ridiculous. Yes, there are difficult GEs (but most of you don't take them because you just pick the ones with lowest difficulty), but anyways, students can easily attain an A in a GE if they put effort into learning in the class. It's not rocket science.

Some people already have the habit of skipping classes their first quarter, and as a result, they fail the easy classes (the ones that are supposed to boost their GPA). I know some people who have done this, and by the time they were in their 2nd year, they couldn't rebound quick enough to get into their major (GPA < 3).

I think that after this quarter, people will party less, go out less often (not saying they won't at all), build study skills, etc .

Sudden shock of grades & demand, and major changes (lots).

heh..glad i'm not the only one who f***** up on easy classes/low course load

are you pulling these numbers out of your ***es or were these your freshmen gpa???

yea i ****ed up, big time cuz main i neglected my studies. no more skipping classes next quarter. definitely less partying next quarter. hopefully the frat is not gonna be so time consuming.

wow i really ****ed up this quarter. im gonna make myself go to every class anddiscussion next quarter and do all the hwk!

yeah.......no more skipping class next quarter :(

No more stupid/careless mistakes next quarter -__-

i vaguely remember saying these exact words summer before fall quarter started
