Avg. quality of used textbooks at the bookstore?

So I’m in the process of buying textbooks online for this fall and there are a few I’m not being able to find on amazon on account of them being custom etc. So I’m going to have to buy them from the bookstore. I would prefer to buy them used since it is a bit cheaper. However I’m worried that the books will be filled with highlighting or other markings.

Basically I was wondering what the overall quality of the used textbooks you order online from the bookstore (or just whats the quality of the used books in the bookstore) like?

I’ve bought roughly half of my textbooks from the bookstore, and I haven’t had a problem with used books being highlighted or marked up.

The best time to get the good quality used books is before the quarter starts, like now, before the rush of procrastinators.

i usually can snag books that look brand new from the bookstore. so highlighting’s never been a problem for me!

however, i have had a problem with the accompanying CDs. last quarter i realized that one of my textbooks had an accompanying CD; however, not all the used books had it! i made sure to buy a textbook with the CD insert. lo and behold, wouldn’tcha know it, my prof decides to use material from the CD…

i agree with chillt; go before the mad bookstore rush!
