lol i never understood why people stopped liking a certain band or singer after they got "popular"...wouldn't fans be happy for that band/singer instead?

My favorite live performers are U2, Lisa Loeb, Fiona Apple, and Regina Spektor. Amazing artists!

Taj Mahal and Los Lobos last night was outstanding! Next week, Donna the Buffalo.

I wouldn't have a problem if tons of people just started liking Regina. I'd be all for it. Only thing is, her musical style has changed alot in the past year or so (read: Begin to Hope), and I think it's just as much about her changing her style in order to broaden her appeal as it is about more people listening to her. Now granted, I can't really fault her for it (you can't make a living spending your life singing songs like "Pavlov's Daughter," can you?), but it is slightly dissapointing. Half of BTH I love ("Apres Moi" is absolutely brilliant), but half of it is mindless radio fodder that I would expect from someone like... well, someone who's not Regina. "Fidelity" is a catchy song and all, but it's not Regina. Of course, all artists evolve artistically, but to us idealistic music dorks, it's still oddly sad when they sell out.

Eh, true. I agree with you about THAT. One band that made a pretty good transition to a major label (I mean, that became more radio-friendly without losing their core sound...) is the Decemberists. The Crane Wife is certainly more polished than other albums, but it still is Meloyicious... ha.

Ne Me Quitte Pas is still my favorite Regina song =)

My school has booked THREE DAYS GRACE for our Spring concert!!!!

...and Puddle of Mudd...but who cares when friggin' THREE DAYS GRACE will be there?!

Sorry, but I just got the email announcing the bands/ticket sales and I'm jumping-up-and-down-giddy about it :)

I saw Switchfoot with Copeland last night in Baltimore...they both played quality sets. Switchfoot's was very high energy. I'm not the biggest fan of either of them, but it was a really good show. Too many middle schoolers there for my taste, but since they were all fairly short, it didn't really matter that I was behind them. And I didn't have to worry about getting pushed around. Hehe.

Before that I had seen my friend's ska band perform in Jersey. Conspicuous Consumption (CCSka for short) if anyone's interested.

I don't know what other shows I'm seeing this semester yet. I might check out Army of Me (local band) in April, and maybe another little show or two before then. I'm a little bummed that Third Eye Blind in Baltimore sold out before I got my hands on a ticket, but oh well.

Yay, just bought my ticket to 3eb in D.C. on May 1
