Award AFTER ED App was submitted

I applied Early Decision to a school, and this week I was just named Captain of my Varsity Swim team. I feel like this really adds to my application and should be considered with my application. Should I e-mail the college informing them of the update?

Yes, you should email them with this news. Congratulations.

who exactly should i e-mail? just the admissions office?

If you don’t have the name of the admissions counselor who is assigned to your geographical area, you could email the general admissions mailbox. Or, you could call the admissions office and ask whoever answers the phone for the correct person to email.

You should definately email the admissions counselor (usually listed on the webpage if you dont specifically know). Also, the coach of the team and recruiting coach if any. Better to email to many than not get the right one.

ok i got the regional counselors email. aside form “ive been selected as captain of my team, and would like to update my applicatoin”. what should this email say?

"To whom it may concern,

Since I submitted my application, I have been selected as captain of my school’s varsity swim team. I was hoping you could add this information to my file.

Thanks so much,

DOB [date of birth] XX-XX-XXXX"

glassesarechic has it just right. You need to clearly identify yourself and say what you need to say in a very few words. If you have a common app ID you can include that as well to help them identify you.
