<p>Do the little signs after a letter grade mean a lot when applying to colleges? Do they consider A- kind of like a B? I'm the type of person that just meets the requirements.. My only reference right now is my freshmen year, I had
1- B+
1- A (elective)
4- A- </p>

<p>Pluses add 0.3 grade points and minuses subtract 0.3 grade points. Thus a B = 3.0 and a B+ = 3.3 grade points. An A- = 3.7 grade points.</p>
<p>At most schools an A+ doesn't count for anything extra. It looks nice, but it still counts for just 4.0 points, same as an A.</p>

<p>yeah, my school takes A's, A-'s and A+'s as the same value and record them as a 4.0....</p>

<p>They're the same in CA. A is 4 B is 3 C is 2 and so on. They give different signs for the heck of it. </p>
<p>Your grades, however you compare them up, down, sideways will be the same number of points, a 3.83 GPA</p>
<p>Because if you work your butt off and end up with an 89, and your friend goofs off and slides in with an 80, do you want to both get the same B? At least you'll have a B+ and she'll have a B-. </p>
<p>But that said, I'm not sure how much weight the + and - carry with colleges.</p>
