Let's motivate each other! :) A place for all who are taking the SAT in October. I'll be posting my study schedule, as well as resources used etc. I was inspired by @IceQube to do a similar thread, and hopefully by posting on this site, I'll stick to my plan! Feel free to share yours too.

When I previously took the SAT, I scored 1900. My aim is to score 2100+ in October.

Hehe I’ll be taking the SAT in October too… Got a 2080 in the recent March SAT and want to get 2200+ in October Reading screwed me over and I’m going to try to do 1-3 section(s) everyday over the summer for the sole purpose of getting a 700+ in CR, hopefully it all works out :/

I’ll be taking the SAT for the first time in October. My plan is to build skills in June and July and take one practice test every Saturday in August and September and review the test during the week. I hope to get 2200+. Good luck to everyone else!

I am using the Blue Book for the practice tests. I’ll use 9 out of 10 of them for the October test. If I need to retake, I’ll use the Online Course.

I’ll be taking the October test! Honestly just trying to improve my math score… First time I took the SAT I got a 2140 (770 cr 750 wr … 620 math) and second time I sucked at everything but my math went up to 640, but I really need around 700 to be competitive, because apparently everyone gets amazing scores on math. So this summer I’ll be focusing on improving math but also just going for overall improvement to make up for my sucky 2nd test scores.

I’ll also be taking the SAT in October for my first time. I took my first practice test on June 1. I scored 1940 with a 720 in math, 600 in critical reading, and 620 in writing. I’m aiming for 2200+. I’ll be using the blue book.

For those who have taken practice tests and/or the real SAT, how did your score(s) compare to your PSAT score?

I got a 222 without studying on this year’s PSAT, but I’m worried it’s giving me false confidence in my ability to do well on the real one, haha.

my score was actually the exact same without studying. Got a 198 on the PSAT with 1 wrong in math, then the first time I took the SAT, I got a 1980 with 1 wrong in math. But then I studied, and brought it up to 2240! :)

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, and because I’m still at school until early July, so far I’ve only managed to write out flashcards for the sentence completions section. Given that Direct Hits Volumes 1 and 2 are considered the best vocab books by many CCers, these are the books I have used. Making flashcards certainly took quite a while, but I’m sure that it will be worth it. :)

Today, I’m also going to go through some grammar for the writing section.

I have taken two real tests in jan and june and I have to take another one in October. Dreadful news!! My June SAT did not improve a lot. (From 1990
To 2090) The worst thing is the math part. To us Chinese, not getting 800 in Math is embarrassing. And my math score went down from 770 to 750. My critical reading sucks (only 630)so i decided to spend some of my summer time reading. I live in China so I have to go to HK or Taiwan to take the SAT. It’s annoying to go so far away just for one test though I can do some crazy shopping in HK every time. I hope October will be my last time to do this. I don’t want a fourth SAT test.

Yesterday I worked on CR off of my 2011 PSAT. It was weird taking the PSAT again because I was getting a lot of the previously incorrectly answered questions correct, but some of the previously correctly answered ones incorrect. I did improve my score on CR from 53 to 68, but considering I’ve had almost two full years of English in between the tests, I’m not that surprised. I would still like to get 700+ on the actual SAT, though.

I’m also taking the October test! Hopefully this will be the last one! I took an official test last december and got 1930 (630 M, 600 CR, 700 W) first sitting. I was pleasantly surprised with the results since I hadn’t gotten anything over 1800 in my previous practice tests! I only studied off free sources online and my school library’s copy of the blue book. After that I took a hiatus from SAT prep because I went abroad for a semester, but now that I’m back I’m using Barron’s Math Workbook, Direct hits (both of them) and CB’s online lessons (I really only wanted the 10 practice tests. BTW, does anyone know if these are the same as the ones in the blue book?) Anyways, I’m hoping to get 2200+ on the Oct date. By the way, I’m Mexican and I will be taking the international test here in Mexico.

I am taking the October test as well. My current score is a disgrace by CC standards (1680). For two straight months I will do both review and take an official test on Saturdays 3-6 times before the real one. For my preparation I am using:

The Blue Book

Barron’s SAT (mainly for CR practice)

PWN Math SAT

Erica Meltzer’s Guide to Grammar

The 500 Essential Words

Direct Hits Volumes 1 & 2

“How to Write a 12 Essay in Just 10 Days”

Official Tests found online

If I run out of tests, (I have 14 right now) I may use the official online course. The goal is 2100, let the fun begin when I return from my summer camp!

P.S. Thank you for creating this thread. I was waiting for someone to make an October test thread!

Taking October also, got a 2050 on the March test.
720 CR
690 Writing (2 wrong, 7 essay)
640 Math

Using Steve Warner’s 28 math lessons, about halfway through that, then I’m not sure what to do for math besides blue book. I really need to get above a 700 but I’m not sure what to do.
For reading I rarely get passage questions wrong and I only need to improve my vocab for sentence completion, starting with Essential 500 for that.
My essay really screwed me on writing so just planning on practice that, hoping for an 800 as I get 0-2 questions wrong consistently on practice tests.

Aiming to improve to 2250+, I figure if I go ham this summer it shouldn’t be too hard. Any tips? Thanks!

Got a 2090 on Jan, (800 M 660 CR 630 W). Taking one practice test every monday. Blue book has 10 tests and 10 weeks of summer so it fits perfectly haha. I’m using Erica Meltzer’s grammar and critical reading books as well as PWN’s Essay Guide. The critical reading book is awesome and i highly recommend getting it. Aiming for a 2200. Best of luck to everyone else!

@nate42 . yeah man. I’ve the ebook. I thought it would be a good option for practice. but the questions are ambiguous (W). CR are piece of ****.
