I got my ACT scores back, and they were not good at all... just what I expected. I plan to re-take the ACT due to not getting enough sleep that day, harming my lack to focus. Though how do you go about letting a university know that you plan to re-take the ACT, and why they have recieved such a low score? How much can this harm your acceptance etc... thanks.

I took the ACT and SAT and chose not to have them sent to schools for exactly that reason. However, I have been told many times that they will only count the highest scores.

Although the schools uniformly say (and I tend to believe) that they only count the best score, there is no reason to send a bad ACT (unless the college you apply to has some weird rule requiring you to do so). The ACT has always allowed you to send only the test score(s) you want. My D had a horrible first ACT, and scored 8 points higher on her next go round (which is huge in the ACT world). She never sent the first score.
