I scored a 1790 on my SAT but sent it to most colleges and put it down on my Common App. However, I scored a 34 on my ACT so I sent that to colleges and listed it on my Common App as well. I am applying to some Ivy League schools and was wondering if having this bad SAT score will hurt my chances for admission even though I have a very high ACT score. I also took SAT II tests and score better on those, getting a 700 and 690. Does anyone have insight into how much the bad SAT score will affect my admission decision? Thanks!

I’m not expert whatsoever, but I’ve heard that they tend to only look at the higher of the two. Why even send the SAT lol? With such a discrepancy between the two scores I’m not sure how they’ll look at it. I think you’ll be okay :)

If they say they take the highest score, then they take the highest score. Do you think they just lie about it? I don’t know why you sent the lower score (not THAT bad), but I wouldn’t worry about it now.

Don’t worry about it. They want your highest score (they report it, anyways), so they’ll look at it.
