Bad First Semester Grade?

I just finished my first semester of college. I’m not too pleased on my gpa as I know I can do way better, but as a first semester freshman, is a 2.5 gpa decent? My major is Computer Information Systems, and I had classes such as intro to tech, quantitative reasoning(math), college writing & critical thinking, personal finance, and communications, I got mostly 3 C’s and 1 A(they don’t factor in my intro tech grade). I was wondering is a 2.5 decent as of right now? and what can I do to make it better?

Let’s put it this way. You are not on probation and you have something to build on. Don’t fret about the grades you have already gotten. Focus, instead, on your next semester classes and what you have learned about yourself and your study habits in your first semester. Try to figure out if you need to adjust your approach, scheduling or other aspects of your studying to get the results you want.

A 2.5 is not horrible and it is easy to improve on it as this was simply your first semester. You had some adjustment issues and now you have to make good decisions going forward.
