Hi! So its my freshman year in a CAlifornia Community College and my first semester was not very good( got distracted) i got a B in freshman english(transferabble class part of my major-4units) but a bad grade in my math class which is pre cal, a D(5 unit class not part of my major). Technically i passed the class but my gpa became very low due to it. I want to transfer to UCI/UCD or maybe UCLA and my major is computer science. I can retake the class and the new grade will be added to my transcript and GPA(old grade wont count on gpa). So i wanted advice if i shoult retake that class. Is it worth it? I know if the D grade remains my gpa will take a lot of work to boost ALOT! But im not sure if i should take it as its not part of my major(it does transfer to UCs).
What will you guys suggest? Thanks in advance.

If you think you can improve your performance, I’d re-take the class. You’ll need your GPA in the 3.5+ range to be competitive for UCLA. UCD and UCI both allow Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for Cal CC applicants. The GPA is 3.2 to 3.4 depending on major but, you need to take specific classes and apply in advance.
