Bad grade on transcript?

To get straight to the point, I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up with an A- in my orchestra class.

Now, I’ve always been a straight-A student until this (my freshman) year of highschool, in which I got an A- in orchestra in first quarter. For the 2nd and 3rd quarters, I’ve wound up with As, but I got a 92 on my 4th quarter playing test and a 90 on my final.
(Side note, in my school district, 90-92=A- and 93-100=A)

Nothing is official yet, as we have a written final coming up, but it is only a small percentage of our grade. Also, my teacher selected me to letter (basically a varsity letter but for orchestra) and receive an award, so I guess she likes me (eh, maybe?), so hopefully, if I’m on the border, she’ll round my grade up.

Anyways, how bad would the A- look on my transcript when college admissions rolls around? What would you say I should do in order to make up for it?
Thanks!

I don’t think you have to worry about this. Some adcoms might even find an A- refreshing, in a sea of A’s.

If people with A-s didn’t get into top colleges, then nobody from my school would ever get into a good school.

An A- versus an A will not be the defining factor in your acceptance/rejection from a college. There is a very small difference between the two, and both are still–well–As.

Since when is an A- a “bad” grade

The A- will not look bad, particularly since music is not a core subject. The self-deprecating attitude that an A- is a bad grade, however, will not do you any favors if that comes across in either an essay or an interview.
