So as many seniors(perhaps not that many), my 1st semester mediocre grades with C and Bs dropped my rank severly, the effect of unconscious senioritis.

Should I go back to the track and work hard through 2nd semester to prepare for college ...or is it just pointless to do so b/c of the little fallout on admission if I attain at least a 3.0 gpa?

Well, since you got bad grades, you can get better grades or more worse grades. But since you're asking a question this rediculous, it sounds like you're on track for more bad grades.

Well you screwed yourself man, You have to realize that 1 semester senoir year will weigh hevily on your college admission. It gonna be tough for you to get into where you want to go with an under 3.0 GPA

Some schools will want you to do a little explaining, while others won't mind as much, so there really isn't one answer. Well there is and it's this: do as best as you can.

It's different for each school, and also your planned major. This 1st semester has been my worst semester ever, but I was taking honors/ap classes that weren't really related to my major. Yes, I am worried and upset at myself, but..too late.

For your 2nd semester, you shouldn't slack off until May. You've either wasted your chances or haven't affected them at all - you don't know yet. Keep your grades up, or make them even better in order to end your last semester with a good record for transferring to another college if you don't get in for the upcoming fall. If you end up going to an undesirable safety and transfer for your sophomore year, colleges will still look at your high school grades.
