Bad grades Life over?

Well, I began to slowly get my grades from my teacher. And My grades are really bad and this is junior term the one that counts.

Honors Pre cal ------ B should've gotten an A
IB english -------- B
IB history -------- C
IB Phsychology ----- B
IB TOK ------- C
regular biology ------- A

Well those are my grades pre call and ib are weighted except tok....... Well are these bad grades gonna ruin me? I have a 3.76 gpa, and was extremely lazy in school. My life over for a UC school? Don't forget taht its junior year and its half term

depends on the UC

you will get in the lower UC's (Riverside, Merced etc.)

If not, you can always go to cal-state, they do provide a decent education regarless of what elitists say.

(study for the SAT, and do well)

Lol, that doesn't sound so great so i screwed up right there boom no more good ucs? What if i like do super good next term and raise my gpa to 4.0 would tehy hold me back with that screw up first semester junior year?

Are you a California resident?

They tend to be very numbers-based for out of state students, but take more leniency with in-state students.

i live in cali man I'm so depressed. Life sucks, I'm so angry at myself all the time ive been playing games and procrastinating has really screwed me over. I always that i can get my grade up before term but then it really bite me on my ass. Right now I'm so depressed and can barely even study right now I have final for this one class

Well, you're just going to have to. Nothing you can do about it now except do better next semester.

And BTW, the answer to your title's question, is no.

i wasn't trying to be discouraging

it will make a difference if you try hard this semester, although, you are probably out of the game for like UCLA or USC.

Any UC is internationally-renowned, so its really not a big deal.

Yeah...i'm not going to apply to those schools and some others...I originally was but not anymore...good bye dream schools. :(

it is a big deal. where i'm from, (orange county) ucsc, ucsb, and ucr are reject schools. they suck and i have been to each of these schools.

aww..
it's okay
any school you go to, if you keep an open mind, you will be HAPPY at...and you will succeed at.
your life is NOT over.
in fact, if you put your mind to it and try harder, you will have a great chance at many of the schools you want to go to.
there are great things ahead of you in life, don't give up just cuz of something so stupid and high school junior year term grades.

Thanks Narcissa, Originally i thought I would apply to UCLA and USC. Usc was my dream school, but now there is absolutely no way in hell i can get in those schools because of this screw up? If I do extremely well next semester do I still have a chance, is there any way possible I can go to USC like a miracle?

TPhillip, I know how difficult it is when you slack in IB, your grades can drop pretty easily. But nonetheless, the b's aren't bad, but if you don't mind me asking, is your TOK class really hard or something? Because at my school TOK is pretty easy so I'm surprised it's one of your lowest grades. I think you still have a good shot at ucla or usc, but I think it would really depend on your rank.

TOK iS extremely hard at my school, Our teacher is a GENIUS and when I say genius i actually mean it. Right now im studying for TOk final and it seems impossible. Our final is gonan be on a long essay and a short one the questions are really difficult.

sadly, yes. ur life is over.

I've become so severely depressed of how my dreams of a good college was destroyed by this one report card. I've become so depressed that I have basically given up in life and school as well. Right now I have no motive to study for Tok or anything.

That sucks how hard your TOK class is, but you aren't doing badly in your classes and you certainly shouldn't give up in life and school! (especially now) As you said before, junior year is the most important so use that as inspiration to study more. But your grades are far from unacceptable for the uc's, given your courses' rigor.

ucsb a reject school?

i agree with u on ucr and ucsc, but damn.

I think you still have a chance at any UC, that is, if you have good ECs and test scores to cover those term grades. Remember, your GPA is only a part of your application, and one term cannot severely hurt you, I mean, you could make up those grades in the next terms. You're only a junior, after all.

^ yawn, there are worse things in life than bad grades.
