Bad Idea?

Ok, I know this is going to sound a little bit unprofessional and maybe a little dumb, but I really want to know your guys' opinions.

I applied as Econ to NYU CAS, though lately, have been considering Stern. Obviously, with my application sent out and everything, I can't change which college I've put down on my Common App. However, over the past couple of weeks, I've been on the Stern site a lot, and was getting really inspired by the school. Now, I feel terrible for not choosing it over CAS, and I feel like my one and only chance to ever attend is now gone.

So, back to my question. I really, really wished I applied to Stern. I feel like just opening my e-mail and writing a small letter to the admissions office explaining my situation. I would send out ten extra essays if they wanted me to, and would really do anything necessary. Do you think it could change anything? I feel so impolite asking this (let alone doing it), but I would just like to know whether you guys think its a good idea.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think you can change your college, especially because it’s stern. Your best option is to stick to Econ for freshman year, taking courses that a Stern student would usually take, then do an internal transfer to Stern.

I think they might actually let you do that, wouldn’t hurt to try except you will have a lesser chance of getting into NYU overall and certainly won’t be going into CAS.

You know, I’ll give it a shot. I’ll just ask if it’s possible, and if it is, I’ll debate that thought later. I feel like I have an average chance for Stern, but I feel it’s worth a try.
