Bad results - Oct. 9th SAT!

I took the SAT I in June and studied a little bit, ended up with a 1330 690 M and 640 V. I did the ten real SATs once at the beginning of the year and again before this SAT aside from studying vocab constantly. My scores on the 10 Reals were 1400-1500 every single time and I felt so confident when I took this SAT. My score ended up being LOWER 1320 660 on both sections. I am so mad. I spend at lead 100 hours studying for this test only to do worse. I am seriously contemplating forgetting the SAT IIs because now I have no shot at UC schools in LA or San Diego. I am so depressed and angry, but I am surely not taking this test once more. You guys who get 1400s should be ecstatic. I just don't know what happened!

sux to have studied so hard and not get what you wanted... but look on the brighter side of things... 1350 combined is not bad

I know, I am so depressed.

i got a 1240 and i dont think it's that bad. studied my arse off for a month, but think i did not do that hard of stuff.

SATs suck anyway... most people who score high are textbook and can't form a country or make anything inventive if they wanted to. look at the top people that made cool stuff... many failed or scored low on ETS type text.

Will this score get me into UCLA? Out of State GPA UW 3.500 decent EC.

I'm a california resident and UCLA is arguably one of the toughest colleges in CA (excluding Stanford). The way the UC system is set up is to favor CA residents, if you're coming out of state UCLA begins to look like an ivy league. I'm not saying you can't get in with a 3.5 and 1320 (UCLA takes the best of one sitting) but I recommend you try to get the best SAT II scores possible (UC's count 3 SAT II tests, and they double the scores when they do the conversion factors). I hope you get in.

Thanks for that reply. I hope you get in too.

after comparing with all the questions on cc i thought i only missed 1 math. The number of triangles question, which was 4 or more; i had that then changed it. I got all the rest right that i compared to with my friends and on here, if the answer was 15pi. I ended up with a 740 is it possible to miss two and end up with a 740? last time i missed 3 and got a 720 so who knows.

I say, you're wrong about the number you missed. next time get score report or something.

You put a lot of time into preparing for the test and you also knew you had a lot riding on it. You are probably capable of getting a higher score, but this test can totally psych you out. I think you should send the scores you have now to all the places you are going to apply...and then go into the next test in November (stand-by if you have to) and take the test with no pressure on you at all. If your scores go up, and they probably will, then you resend to those schools. If your scores stay the same or drop a bit, you do nothing and no one knows you even took them. You can only play this game the fall of your senior year..and you have nothing to lose. Good luck.

Sorry your scores didn't pan out the way you wanted. I know how you feel. The first two times I took the SAT (in Dec. 03 and May 04) I got a 1320 and then a 1360. But then I took it a 3rd time (this October) and improved my composite to a 1410. Colleges don't look down on you if you take the SAT more than two times and for me it really did help. I didn't even study at all for the 3rd testing and I still improved my scores. So consider taking it again and good luck! Also, just so you know, UC Berkley out of state admissions is Ivy league calibur. It is the most difficult public university to get into out of state in the nation (confirmed by U.S. News and World Report). So be prepared!

Amensia, hey, that's a totally biased remark. While I do understand that a number really doesn't mean anything, you still can't say that those who score high are "textbook". I completely disagree. While there are some that are textbook, others simply work hard to get the scores they desire. I got a 1340 before; studied my ass off and got a 1480! And believe me, I'm not 'textbook".

krazykamikaze - aww, chill ; ) ... of course she meant that more as comfort than seriously.

yeah man.... who says high SAT scorers that redo 1500+ tests don't rule the economy and what not ..... they are HIGHLY COMPETITIVE people! competititve.... to succeed and thats what it takes..... we're not just textbook nerds w/o intelligence (thats what the low scorers say to boost their self esteem lol.... ) we want to prove something to OURSELVES .... i got a CRAPPY 800M 620V everyone says its great but i know I CAN do better ! i want 1550 at least..... luckily i'm just a junior so i can take it more (this was my first time 0ct.9!... i didn't take the PSAT either) arrghhh... igot 710 on all the practice 10 real sat verbal.... woodrow washington + anxiety = stress and errors = 620 :(

Hmmm... you have no reason to be depressed. Just think that a 1350 is still in the top percentages of students these days. As for me- I suck. I've taken the SAT four times.... freshman-sophomore-junior-and now senior year. The first two aren't on my transcripts though(and I have no idea why). 9th and 10th grade I got the exact same (need I say, low) score and then junior year I jumped 90 points and then I just got the SAME EXACT score my senior year (same breakup too!) I tell you, what are the odds????? It is just so frustrating knowing that a bunch of kids in my school who are not nearly as hardworking and bright as I (sound like an egotistical brat, right?) can get into the 1500s....

Well, I will be using my ACTs anyway so it really doesn't matter.

My daughter took Oct 2 SAT for the 2nd time to get a better score. She got 2220 (760 math, 680 VB, 790 writing) the first time around. On 2nd try she got (720 math, 720VB and 790 writing). Her math score fell. She got a 800 on SAT 11 Math. Can anyone tell me a good math tutor to raise her math score for Dec2 test. Thanks. How is College wizard?
