Rick Funk, Senior Associate Director of Admissions at UA, is coming to Hawaii on a recruiting trip this week. His visit will culminate in a reception at the Ala Moana Hotel November 21.

Here’s Rick’s schedule, for all you Aloha Staters lurking out there and all you soon-to-be snow birds just looking for an excuse to come to Hawaii.

Nov 12: Honolulu–Hawaii College Fair, Blaisdell Exhibition Hall

Nov 15: Oahu–Visits to schools on the island
Nov 16: Maui–Hawaii College Fair, Kamehameha Schools
Nov 17 & 18: Hilo–Hawaii College Fair, Sangha Hall
Nov 19: Kona–Hawaii College Fair, Waikaloa Resort

Nov 21: University of Alabama Reception, 2-5 p.m. at the Ilima Room, Ala Moana Hotel, 410 Atkinson Drive, Honolulu

Hope to see some of you there. Aloha and Roll Tide!

I hope everyone comes out to hear about the University of Alabama, I was at one of the recruiting receptions last night in New York, it was excellent.

^^^Yeah, I told him to brace himself for a particularly rough patch of fall weather. The forecast this week is calling for highs in the low 80’s and lows in the low 70’s, but somebody’s got to do it. :)

Funny, but we are experiencing the same weather high in the 70’s low in the 80’s. But that would be on the minus side of the scale. Don’t know how you folks deal with such boring weather!

So Rick’s the lucky person who gets to do the Hawaii recruiting. He’s the person that I originally met at a college fair in Seattle and who encouraged me to apply to UA.

It’s starting to get cold here in Tuscaloosa; Hawaii would be a nice change of climate. :)

How can you live like that? You have the palm trees swaying in the breeze, we have the cell towers getting ripped out of the ground. No danger of getting hit in the head by a coconut here!

Mr. Funk went above and beyond in recruiting my son. He definitely played a big part in his decision to attend Bama. So glad he gets to make the cushy trips!

I’m pleased to report that Bama has expanded the mission during its recruiting foray to Hawaii. Rick Funk will now visit schools on Oahu not only on November 15, but on November 16 (and possibly the morning of November 17) as well. He will be joined in the islands by Jacquelyn Buechele ([Jacquelyn Buechele - Undergraduate Admissions - The University of Alabama](http://gobama.ua.edu/staff/counselor.cfm?id=61)), who will represent UA at the Hawaii College Fair on the island of Kauai (Hilton Kauai Beach Resort) November 15 and take Rick’s place at the Maui fair November 16.

The recruitment sessions that I attended were very good. I think that there was more interest in Connecticut than New York and a larger turnout as well. The weather in NY was not conducive to bringing people out of their homes, there were heavy rains and wind that day.

Dr. Witt was the keynote speaker and he was very informative and eloquent.

All in all, I think that the events went very well.

Bumping this thread to remind anyone on Oahu who is perusing this forum about today’s University of Alabama Reception, 2-5 p.m. at the Ilima Room, Ala Moana Hotel, 410 Atkinson Drive, Honolulu. Please join us!
