i am part of a band that performs regularly, but i get a “grade” for the class (everyone gets an A, lol) and it goes on my transcript.
how do colleges view this? would i be advised not to use it as an EC?

My high school band graded (so was choir), and I definitely used both as ECs. Do you also practice outside school time?

two days a week, we are required to come early ("0 period") and practice with the other sections of the music dept.

close to performances/festivals/long trips, we practice a ton during lunch, after school

our section leader is basically the oldest, most experienced member (not me)

you can still list it down as an extracurricular activity. most very time consuming extracurricular activities may sometimes require classtime anyway. some examples from my high school that had a class but were still considered EC's included band, drama, choir, mock trial, acadec, yearbook, newspaper, and athletics.

i think it's because most of them require time outside of class. but you'll be fine putting band as an EC even though you receive a grade for it. i did that and i'm doing fine, as are all my friends who did that from the past few years.
