Bank Intern

I graduate this coming fall from a cal state with a degree in finance. I have a mediocre gpa (2.5-3.0) but a ton of experience. Work experience (hospitality) and internships with Merrill Lynch, a 529 startup, and currently a top 25 bank.

Problem: What are reasonable entry-level positions at a bank? You would think a bank intern would have the inside scoop to this but sometimes ignorance is bliss. Starting off as a teller would be a paycut however most relationship managers have 5+ years of banking experience.

I've thought of the Personal Banker roles at retail banks or looking at smaller banks than my own to get my start. My current bank should give me an offer at the end of my internship but I like to have options.

Take what you can get.

^^ Definitely take what you can get. Is there anyway you can boost your GPA at all by retaking some classes? It’s extremely beneficial that you have a lot of experience and I’m sure you’re a great worker but companies really focus in on GPA for entry level positions. I personally believe that’s crap but HR only cares about that just to cut applicants. 3-5 years down the line, your GPA won’t be worth diddly squat.
