The DC week is held in July–at least that’s been true for the past two years.

SeekingUni, the other college freshmen are in the same position. At this point, you don’t know yet where you’re heading for college, so you don’t know when you need to leave. You could end up somewhere that starts later and there’ll be no conflict. Just go ahead and apply, and wait until you have acceptances in hand (from BofA too) before worrying about this. :)

@Nin10dude317 last year the DC week was held july 10 to the 15, but the DC week is not the final week of the program. I started my internship on June 20th and then went to DC about halfway through, and that was also the case for every other student leader that I talked to. We all pretty much started in june and ended in august, so the internship doesnt start seven weeks before the conference in DC. @seekinguni, my internship ended on august 12th last year and it was the latest end-date of any other the other markets that i talked to. you should be fine as far as starting school goes, because most people ended their internship the first week of august. i only met one girl at the DC summit whose school started before the end of her internship, and she was able to work it out that she could start a week earlier than everyone else and end a week earlier so that she could leave for school.

Hey everyone! I was just wondering, if you are accepted into the program, do you have to go? I want to apply to some other summer programs, so I want to know if I would be obligated to do Bank of America Student Leaders.

Okay,I will currently a junior in Detroit. I am applying for BoA–what are my chances? I have good grades and great community service. Any advice–pm me? Thanks!

Im from LA do alot of students apply to it here cause then wow im not getting accepted. Do you need to have so many volunteer hours? I have some experience but not that much

Mine has academics, honors, extra curriculars, etc. I depends on who you are and what your strengths are. If you google “resume” or “high school resume” you’ll be able to find templates and tips.

Does anyone who has been to this program know of how important the secondary recommendation is? (you are allowed to upload an optional additional recommendation). I have a great rec for my primary rec but I don’t think I have the time to get another one. Will this significantly hurt my chances of getting in?

I would like to inquire about which letter of recommendation would be most appropriate? I mean I have done a leadership program before (it was fun and it was a great experience) and after completing it they gave us a letter of recommendation but it’s not really personal.

The program was similar as it was a program about aiding the community and about leadership.

But the one I want to use is the one from my mentor, an attorney that I’ve known for the past three years… or if I should use one from an academic teacher?

Any thoughts? (and lol wow this is late the application is due on WEDs)

I would include a recommendation from a teacher who might know you better and I am including the additional recommendation. There is no application fee too.

Well, my application is submitted. I submitted two letters of recommendation, and because of the extremely restricting character limit, have documented at least 150 hours of volunteer work on my resume. Anyone else applying through the Austin bracket??? My friend got in last year, but he didn’t know how many people applied in Austin.

@funkeicool, no you are not obligated to take the job if they offer it to you.
and to everyone asking about the secondary letter of rec, i included two letters last year–one from a teacher and one from the mayor of my town. it probably helped a little, but its most likely not going to make or break your app.

For the essay part on “why do you think you should be selected”, how do you refrain from sounding too cocky/generic/cliche? any help is appreciated.
