Banks and cell phones

this is a question for current penn students:

what are the popular banks at penn?

and which cell phone company has the best reception, or has spotty reception at penn?

thanks

Most of the ATMs on campus are PNC, and you can link a PNC bank account to your penn card and turn it into a debit card which is pretty cool. There's also a Commerce bank right on campus.

I have verizon and get reception in places no one else ever does.. the one place I don't is in the study rooms on the bottom floor of Huntsman.. but I have yet to meet anyone who gets reception there!

I have T-Mobile. Reception was decent throughout campus when I visited.

mnasy1122 is right about Huntsman, though.

PNC and Verizon

PNC & Verizon or Cingular/AT&T

Cingular gets reception in the bottom of Huntsman.

VZW Tech guy: "can you hear me now? what? hold on i'll call you back on my Cingular phone"

Also with Cingular you can get special corporate discounts by being a Penn student.

10% off your monthly bill, no activation fee, 45% off phone prices.

But steer clear of T-Mobile. You can go to T-Mo's own coverage checker on their website which gives you street level coverage and they will happilly tell you that Penn-area coverage is only "Fair." VZW, Cingular, Nextel, heck even SPRINT do great at Penn.

As for banks, I'd say PNC (you can link it up with your PennCard), Commerce (no ATM fees anywhere), or the school's own SFCU.

I'm in this contract for like 1.5 more years. :(

I am not a Penn student but go to schol on the other side of the State....PNC is definitely the bank to go with in my opinion......

I would just break the contract and port over once it's time to go to Penn....it's better to just pay the ETF and get a better service provider than to keep paying for service that is not good.....think about it...the fee is a one time deal..while paying for service thats insufficient will continue for the duration of your contract and you end up paying more in the end anyway if you stick with them. Just my 2 cents.
