@oldsoul17 Up to 1/5 of the ED pool has been made up of deferrals in the past! Don’t lose hope
Anyone here applying RD? I’m excited!
@extrapeppermint I am! So why are you applying to Barnard? What’s your favorite part about the school?
@ellesea Ahh! There’s too many! It’s my #1 choice right now–at first I was really attracted to the NYC location (which is how I found the school) but I also like the idea of going to a women’s college since I’ve always been a big feminist. I also love all of the traditions like Midnight Breakfast, and the big sense of community and history surrounding Barnard. My favorite thing about it is the sense of community there seems to be among all the students and the alumna too What about you?
@extrapeppermint I found out Barnard through a friend back in 10th grade and ever since I’ve loved the school. I love it for many of the same reasons you do: I’m a feminist and I love women’s colleges and Midnight Breakfast and Big Sub look so awesome. I also love the fact that it’s a liberal arts college which gives me the chance to take classes in things I’m interested in other than my major and when I visited campus, it felt right. I felt like I could live and study there.
What are you thinking about majoring in? For me I’m looking at Poli Sci with an International Relations concentration and potential double-majors/minors in Environmental Science or Women’s and Gender Studies.
@extrapeppermint @ellesea
/creeps back into thread/ Hellooo!
I’m also applying RD!
What parts of the country (or world?!) are you guys from?
@charmandquark Florida, where its currently 78 degrees. You?
@ellesea I’m from Northern California and it’s currently 57 degrees, rainy and windy.
Luckily, I’m inside curled up in a blanket.
@ellesea It’s actually been about the same temperature/weather here as it has been in NYC. It’s been a cold winter for us thin-skinned Californians. xD
I’m applying RD and I’m super excited! I love the atmosphere and core ideals of Barnard!
@b3happy Bruh, same. xD What major(s) are you interested in?
@ellesea @charmandquark I’m applying from North Carolina (where it’s 70 degrees in winter this year…no thanks) & currently my intended major is either Film Studies or English with a concentration in Film, and then maybe a minor in Visual Arts.
It’s so nice to meet you guys!
I’m also applying RD from NC! I have a Skype interview tomorrow with an alumna. Really, really nervous. Kind of wish we were able to do it in person, but hopefully she’ll still get a good sense of who I am. Wish me luck! Has anyone else had an interview yet?
@simplejoy I literally just had a phone interview with an alumna (guess there aren’t many actually living in NC!) I think it went ok. My interviewer asked Why Barnard, if I was applying to other schools, about my extracurriculars, my interests and what classes I took, and if I had any questions (so I would make sure to come up with some beforehand). Good luck!
@charmandquark I like political science and mathematics, but I don’t know for sure. Do you think being super dedicated to one major is better or worse than being undecided/unknown?
@simplejoy I had my interview not too long ago, I think it went alright. It was a phone interview, and I think I made my love for Barnard obvious so. I wish I could have skyped though! I hate talking over the phone.
@b3happy Hmmm…that’s a good question. I think it definitely makes it easier if you have an idea of what to do, but I wouldn’t say better. What aspects of political sciences and mathematics do you enjoy?
Neither of my teachers have finished their recommendations
@hechopecho I hope everything works out
thanks @Tookme10mins
one of my teacher submitted which is good. everything will be on time minus one of my teachers rec which is sucky but I doubt it will count against me
