Barnard Class of '20 Discussion

@charmandquark I’m taking AP Art History, AP Gov, AP Lit, APES, and an AICE class (which is kinda like IB). And I just googled carne asada fries…I have to find myself some ASAP!

@willsister1 How do trimesters work? After Jan. 1, senioritis hit me bad! I just feel like napping through the whole day and forgetting about all responsibilities. Weather in Florida isn’t really consistent either! Over the weekend it was burning hot but today it’s been cool and in the 60s.

@ellesea Basically we have 3 sets of courses instead of two. We have one set from August- October, one from November-February, and one from March until May. Its kind of stressful because we cram all of the work into a few short months. I also feel like day long naps would be a great way to spend time.

@willsister1 That’s pretty cool! I’m inclined to say that California is the same way in terms of varying geography, but California is also super hugeee so it’s not quite the same.
I heard about the incosistent weather! It’s odd, while the east coast was having 70 degree weather California was having (by our terms) some unusually cold weather. It was colder in California than it was in New York for about a week which was sooo wild to me. I hope someone can teach me how to dress for cold weather if I go to school on the East Coast :))

@ellesea Riiiight aren’t they amazing? I think they originated in SoCal, but I’m not too sure. You could probably make your own too! What is AP Art History like? From what I know of it, (and I know very little) art history seems like an interesting topic but I’ve never taken such a class…

How long does it take to get the portal?

@XCjunior21016 I submitted my application on 12/24 and I didn’t get an email about the portal until 1/4

I don’t know if any of you guys were plannig on taking the January 2016 SAT and weren’t able to because of the snow storm. If so, this link,http://admissions.barnard.edu/news/testing-update-january-sat-postponed ,should be helpful.

Do any of you know what day/week we’ll be getting acceptance emails? I’m assuming it’s the same day/week as most other private schools…yes?

I believe that for the past few years decisions have been released on March 26th.

Ahhh we’re so close!!

Will decisions be coming out on March 26th this year?

@scholar861 The 26th is a Saturday this year, so probably not.

@ellesea Oh what days do decisions usually come out?

@willsister1 Right? Agghhh I’m so nervous.
@scholar861 March 26th 2015 was a Thursday, so maybe the Thursday two weeks from now–so maybe March 24th? I do remember reading somewhere that it’s the 2nd to last week of march.

@charmandquark Ohh ok thanks! Wow the decision date is so close! :open_mouth:

@scholar861 Ain’t it? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t counting down the approximate days/hours.

What are you the most excited about college? (I think that sentence makes sense, right?)

@charmandquark Me too! Barnard is my top choice!

And lol, I think the question makes sense. Omg I’m excited for so many things when I go to college (and of course I’m a bit nervous about some), but I’m probably most excited about having a fresh start from high school, meeting new people, getting to take classes that will help me for my future career, and so much more.

@scholar861 Dude same.

I’m looking forward to decorating my dorm room and having more freedom in what I wear. (My school has a dress code and after 4 years I’m tired of it). and Oh! And all the books I’ll read and things I’ll learn. <3 I’m a bit nervous about like, the whole friend-making bit and the whole living with a person I don’t know bit but I have faith I’ll figure it out, lol.

Omg im so stressed, i just wanna get in Barnard

@plsplsacceptme Is Barnard your first choice too?

@charmandquark Yes! I wish i applied for ED but it was a last minute decision to apply. I graduated last year, was gonna go somewhere else but withdrew my admission at the last minute to take a gap year and apply to Barnard :frowning:
