Haha whenever I go to NYC I always waste a ton of money on cabs, so I really want to use the subway @charmandquark and Connecticut is pretty quiet, there are a lot of farms. But beautiful for sure!
applied to the theater program! Does anyone know anything about it?
not expecting much since i’ve just been rejected to northeastern, northwestern, boston college, and NYU haha…
@eebee88 Welcome! <3 Eebee, what led you to choose those double majors?
@gillianm27 I’ll have to visit one day. I remember visiting Ohio for the first time and being in awe at how spacious and quiet it was. Just so much…space. xD
@mas1111 I don’t know much (pretty sure it’s amazing though)-- but a bit ago I found this blog on tumblr called Barnard Baby–the person who ran it was a theatre major. It was (is) a pretty neat blog, with guides/tips on living in NYC/going to Barnard. I’d take a look through it

@charmandquark hi! i’ve always really loved economics and politics, as well as coding + computers in general after i took comp sci classes at school. i think that both options, poli sci/econ and comp sci/econ, complement each other pretty well so I’m not ~too~ worried about it haha
I have a question. A week ago Barnard emailed me asking for tax forms. Is that a good sign or am I reading to much into it? My thought process is why would they ask if they’re going to reject? ya feel.
@sosos22 I got the same email. I think they send it to everyone whose financial aid forms are not complete.
For those who would happen to know, when is the absolute last day to turn in financial aid forms? I know they were due weeks ago, but I’m wondering if having my non-custodial parent turn in his tax forms at this point would be worth the effort.
@eebee88 If they’re majors you enjoy I’m sure you’ll be fine. I’ve always been curious about coding, I hope I can at least learn some basics.
@columbhiroller I’m in a similar situation as you–my non custodial parent is in the hopsital right now so I can’t really do much. I’d still turn them in as soon as you can, if you do get admitted you’d want to secure your financial aid as soon as possible, yknow?
I’ve been waitlisted by all my “target” schools and have been accepted by all of my reach schools and I REALLY hope that this trend continues because Barnard is my #1 and a big reach for me.
The school that I want to get into the most is also the one that notifies the latest. Por que?? D:
I really hope that all of ya’ll get accepted! everyone on this thread is really nice:)
@hechopecho Okay riiiiight? Barnard hasn’t holla’d at me since forever, it makes me beyond nervous. I’ve never wanted anyone to slide into my DM/email inbox so bad xD
I hope your good streak continues! <3 /knocks on wood?/
@charmandquark i’d definitely advise taking a few computer science classes! it’s really interesting, even if you’re not too much of a STEM person (whatever that means hahahahahah)
@charmandquark I live in NYC and the train system isn’t actually that bad. At first it is a bit overwhelming what with all th people, but it’s actually one of the things I like about NYC. A lot of times(especially at popular stops like 59th street, The Barclay’s center stop, etc.) there are frequently performances. Some performances include, dancers, instrumentalist, singers, Sometimes there are even performances on the train(like mariachi bands or dancing) and its a nice experience. It’s a great way to get around too and before you know it you’ll be able to maneuver yourself easily throughout the city. I actually moved to NYC like 8 years ago and initially i found the city/train system very crowded and overwhelming. I remember that on the first couple of times we would go to 59th street the streets would appear very crowded to me,but now I’m pretty much used to it, and it doesn’t seem as crowded as before. But, yeah NYC is great, incredibly diverse, a great community to be a part of, and has many free events to go to. sorry for the awkward sentence structuring, etc. it’s like 1am in the morning. Lol
@Tookme10mins You got me at free events. Sounds lovely! (In a very urban, crowded, busy kind of way). Where did you move from?
@eebee88 Hopefully! I’m so indecisive with my majors/minors. xD I want to do some math/science stuff, but I love education, and I love public policy, and philosophy, and j want to be fluent in Spanish. And somewhere in there it’d be cool if I could throw in some dance?? I’m such a busy body. xD
What are ya’lls favorite TV Shows?
@charmandquark I moved from Maryland
@charmandquark ahhhh I’m a dancer so I’m hopefully going to be able to fit in some dance classes! College-wise, I’m really looking forward to being able to loads of different classes and really exploring all of my interests. Hopefully, by sophomore year of college I figure it all out lol
hey guys I’m suuuuper late to this discussion BUT my name’s Olivia, i’m from Mississippi (originally from Maine) and barnard is my #1 (obv) and I’m planning to be either a music or history major!!! i’m so nervous about this decision omg i really hope we all get in
@eebee88 Ooohhh What type (style? genre? I’m not well versed, lol) of dance do you do?
@olivebar Welcome Olivia! Super nervous about this decision too gah. We can be nervous together? xD
Hey guys! I finally gave in to making an account on this website! Super nervous to hear back from Barnard. My sister goes here and it’d be really cool to go to the same college!I guess we’ll have to see what happens…
@charmandquark ballet/tap/jazz!!! tap is my fav tho. do y’all think decisions would come out march 31st instead of the 24th since they have to give us a week’s notice? (march 31 is my bday so i’m kinda freaking out)
@soph1112 Yo…this is too real. I’m in the same boat. It’s a rough time.
