@AcademiaSavvy - If you have been waitlisted, then there are things you can do to demonstrate continuing interest. I agree that it’s best to focus on the college that you can attend for certain --but some students do typically get accepted off the waitlist each year.
@calmom Nope I was rejected after having an interview for (SP)^2 so it’s not the equivalence of a likely letter…My interview was conducted differently than all the other applicants do you think that could be grounds for an appeal?
@AcademiaSavvy I’m a current Barnard student, and my advisor is one of the faculty members involved in SP2. They have no say in the general admissions process; they are faculty members, not admissions officers. I highly doubt that anything to do with SP2 would be grounds for an appeal. I know rejection sucks, but try to focus your energy on other schools that are excited to have you join their freshman class.
I got in! 3.9 GPA, 1430 SAT, great extracurricular, essays, and recs. I was wondering if any of you know what Barnard’s financial aid is like? I have not gotten my package yet because of an error with CSS, but if I do not get enough aid do they let students appeal? And do any of you know anything about the financial aid appeal process?
You can’t “appeal” but you can talk to a financial aid officer and go over the numbers as to how the aid is calculated, in case there was mistake or something that was not taken into account. So if the amount they offer seems to leave a big gap over and above your FAFSA EFC, you can start by asking what income or assets are the basis for that amount.
But wait until you see the award first – you might be pleasantly surprised. Barnard does meet full need, it is just that their concept of “need” might be different than yours.
Hi, everyone! Who’s planning to visit this coming weekend? I look forward to meeting some of you.
Hey congrats yall! This school and community is so amazing!
