Barnard College RD Class of 2022!

@AlmostThere2018 Okay, thank you!

anyone know when regular decisions will be released?

I have no clue

It better be soon I’m getting so anxious and excited

Does Barnard send early writes??

@wrenwu I’m not sure. In 2008 on CC there was someone who said Barnard sends out likely letters, but I haven’t seen anything official nor close to the present that shows they send likely letters now. As for early writes, I can’t find anything, so I assume they don’t.

Barnard has never sent out early writes as long as I have followed admissions there. My daughter was admitted in 2006. In all these years, I have never heard of anyone hearing about admissions prior to the time that decisions went out for everyone, other than slight differences in the way international students received notice that made a difference of a day or so.

I don’t think they send out likely letters either, although I would consider an invitation to interview for a special program like SP2 to be the equivalent.

@calmom Why do you consider an invitation for an interview with (SP)2 to be the equivalent?

I did an interview with SP2 as well!! I hope that it’s a good sign

@petrichor2000 I’m terrified that the interview is getting my hopes up and they’re just going to reject me!

Same LOL especially when they said hope to see you on campus. I was like I bet you say that to everyone. But if I don’t get an it’s not the end of the world it is what it is.

@petrichor2000 They said the EXACT same thing to me! Dang it that gave me so much hope and now it seems so generalized. Although, why would they implement false hope? They may have just loved us both!

Hopefully that’s the case

Is Barnard your top choice?

@petrichor2000 ABSOLUTELY 100% MY TOP CHOICE!! Which is why I’m terrified/excited for the end of March. Columbia College of CU was my top initially and I applied ED & was rejected, but it made me realize I would be miserable with the Core, because English is my least favorite subject. When I looked at the courses I could take at BC, it’s much more STEM-based for the classes I would take. Although that’s not the only reason, it’s definitely a large factor!

That’s awesome! I definitely hope that you get in you seem like a great candidate  sorry to hear you didn’t get into Columbia, I applied there RD but will props get rejected LOL

Thank you! And you never know, you could be accepted to CC & BC!

@AcademiaSavvy - did you get your financial aid docs sorted? Just checking up on you b/c I’m a Mom.

Because the website says it is “highly selective” and that "Pre-screened students will be invited to interview via phone or Skype with faculty from the (SP)2 committee in late winter/early spring. "

I assume that “pre-screened” part is something done by the admissions department, and don’t think they would waste the time of the faculty that administers the (SP)2 program by sending them names of students who aren’t going to be admitted.

I think it is possible that the (SP)2 faculty could learn something in the course of the interview that change the way the school views the applicant – and be reported back to admissions – but I think that would be a rare circumstance.

Given that a “likely” letter isn’t a promise – just a statement that the person is highly likely to be admitted – I think that an invitation telling you that you were pre-screened for a highly selective program at the school is the same thing.

@AlmostThere2018 Haha thank you! Yes, it took seven business days for them to be counted for in the portal, except the student W-2, because I forgot to add an attachment to the non-filer substitute as to why I didn’t have one filed (I didn’t work in 2016)! Although, the financial aid rep said it wouldn’t penalize me to submit the forms, I’m scared submitting the W-2 later than the others may be penalized.
