Barnard Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

Did anyone apply to the heop program or any other special programs (cstep, (sp)^2, etc)? If so, did anyone get contacted for an interview?

hey yā€™all! weā€™re definitely all very stressed about getting in right now, so very important but unrelated de-stressing question: when you have brownies, do you like the edge, center or corner piece? Iā€™m trying to settle a debate

I feel like Iā€™m not totally qualified to give advice here because Iā€™m stressing myself out SO MUCH for no reason, but something thatā€™s helped me is just packing my schedule with other things so that I donā€™t even have time to think about itā€¦ and like @coffeeat3 mentioned, decisions are out of our hands at this point! Whether or not we stress has no effect on whether or not we get accepted

Corner all the way, the crispy sides are the best part.

Iā€™m a solid corner piece kinda gal, especially with ice cream! My decision anxiety is killing me, Iā€™m watching soooo many manifestation tiktoks right now.

hey all. this is a pretty niche situation but if any of you are in the same situation let me know. my school only goes by a semester system so i dont have any official grades yet so send barnard as my mid year report (which is fine because barnard says to send it that material when its available to you). my first semester ends a month after early decision results come out. had barnard reached out to you, your councilor, or your school asking for current grades or an unofficial progress report? just wondering if they ask for that as a supplement to the final semester grades and if i should be expecting an email. if i dont get contacted for my current grades, does this mean im not being strongly considered or do they just not need it?

for clarification, when i said i dont have any official grades yet, i mean i dont have any official grades for my senior year yet

Hi! I also applied ED and my school has a trimester schedule and our grades come out next week. They sent me and my counselor an email reminding us to send in grades, but they said to ignore the automated email if your school uses a trimester or a quarter system. If your school uses a semester system like you said, then you can send in your midterm grades in lieu of final grades. My counselor responded to the email and they got back to us after two days or so. But I donā€™t think it is that big of a deal but im just another student, a bunch of other students are in the same boat so dont worry!!

Okay great! I got the same email and just wanted to make sure that there wasnā€™t any other information I was missing. So not being able to submit any senior year grades shouldnā€™t hinder our applications, right? Thanks so much!!

yeah I was also super worried but it is something out of our control, and i hope it wonā€™t impact our apps!!

Does your school have 9 weeks grades or progress reports at all, or anything that reflects your current grades?

My Dā€™s school only posts semester grades on her transcript too but she receives report cards for each 9 weeks (each quarter). Her school counselor told her that her school doesnā€™t send the first quarter grades to schools but suggested that she email her report card to her regional admissions counselor and copy her school counselor who could vouch for its accuracy if requested. She did that, and the next day she had a check mark next to the requirement so they seemed to have accepted it. Maybe you could try something similar. If your school doesnā€™t offer any grade or progress report like that then you might just want to let your regional admissions counselor know (unless you think your school counselor will respond).

Best of luck to you! I know this is a stressful time as you wait.

My school has quarters and semesters but Q1 ends a lot later than usual schools and I got an email about action required for missing materials. Once my GC sent it, it was processed on my portal within 8 hrs.

ahh me too! my entire TikTok/Instagram feed is just filled with manifestation accounts at this point and itā€™s actually ridiculous. but itā€™s fine because itā€™s going to work and weā€™re both going to get in

I think you should be fine! My school also does semester grades so the guidance counselors just made a deadline for all students with early apps, and then sent our un-official midterm grades on that deadline. However, I know a lot of schools across the country donā€™t do that, and I think Barnard is usually pretty understanding and will just look at the grades you have, rather than ones you donā€™t

sorry to spam but i have a couple more questions lol. do we know if barnard will (or typically does) drop the decision date and time ahead of time or will we just figure out what day decisions will be released on that very day?

last q i promise! how are you all planning on opening your ED results? im on the west coast so thereā€™s a strong change the results will come out when im at school or in an extra curricular. just wondering what everyone else is doing  alone? at school? in your car? with family? with friends? phone? computer? recording your reaction? let me know!

nvm i just read from 3 diff sources that ED results will be sent out on december 14! idk if it has been confirmed by barnard or if we know what time it will be released

Hi! Iā€™ll probably do it just me in a private place and I will record my reaction no matter what. Although Iā€™m only going to open by myself because I told my family that if I got into Barnard I would dye my hair blue so that they could find out without me being hysterical :joy::joy::joy:
As an international student with a 5 hours difference from NY I donā€™t know what Iā€™ll be doing but this is my plan

Honestly, I am not sure! I am also on the west coast, so I will probably wait until evening if I get it earlier so I can focus on whatever I need to for the afternoon. Unless I am impulsive and open it as soon as I get the email lol. Also- does anyone feel like this thread is kind of small? When I was reading past Barnard forums it had a lot more people. Hopefully that is a good sign for us eager applicants. (:
