Barnard letter ahhh...

Hey has anyone heard back from Barnard yet? Quick story: today during dinner this girl who has the same name as me but a different middle name yelled across the cafeteria: ARE YOU TRANSFERRING??? so I replied umm what are you talking about?! Turns out she got a letter addressed to me from the financial aid office of Barnard College. So the mail center's closed now so I'll have to check tomorrow, but I wonder what it is?? I wasn't expecting a decision until mid- May like their website saids....also I didn't apply for financial aid so I have no clue what the letter possibly could say.
Perhaps they ran out of envelopes so they sent my rejection in an envelope from the financial aid office?
blah..thoughts?

no one? any news?

haha. take a deep breath.

they probably didn't run out of envelopes. is there a chance that you accidentally ticked a box on your application saying you were interested in applying for financial aid? it sounds silly, but i actually did that for a different school...and they barraged me with mail for weeks.

i haven't heard anything from barnard in terms of a decision. the website does say that they send out decision letters between april 20th and may 15...

I live abroad and apparently they've FedExed my decision (I just received an email from the admissions office, saying that my letter arrived but the carrier didn't have my building code to deliver it. They have the code now, so I suppose it should be delivered tomorrow)...I'm guessing those of you in America would have gotten your decisions earlier? If you've received a financial aid package, though, I think that's a pretty good sign.

Now! Settle my own neuroses: Barnard could not be so cruel as to send a rejection letter via FedEx?

hmmm....just looked at the email from Barnard again and the subject was "Federal Express Package".....surely would be terribly sadistic to say package if am only to expect slim disappointing letter?

I've also heard someone say that Barnard sends out decisions in batches...therefore the most desirable students toward the beginning of April and rejection letters are sent out much later, nearer mid-May. This could all be stuff 'n nonsense though.

God, I can't believe I'm on one of these sites. After months of not thinking too much about decisions, keeping it cool, I've suddenly regressed & am now obnoxious 17 year old, obsessively check-listing extracurriculars and reciting test scores in my head. Anyway, chin up. I'd say that some news, this early on, is probably good news. Best o' luck.

i just followed the tracking number on the FedEx site and apparently it was sent from New York on April 19.

hey guys, it was a false alarm. They were just checking to make sure i didnt want to apply for fin. aid and to call immediately if I want to. Do they usually do that? I mean it doesn't matter but now that I've gotten into the habit of reading into things, I'm wondering what it means haha.
ps
for those interested I called Barnard 5 mins ago and they said decisions are going out this week and the next.
good luck!!!

Ahh! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm probably pretty borderline thanks to my craptastic high school transcript/SATs. Good luck to all of you other Barnard transfer hopefuls! :)

Hope, I got the same letter from the financial aid office. When I went to my dorm mail room and saw a thin envelope with B A R N A R D written in the return address section my heart completely dropped.... thank goodness it was just that letter confirming that I didn't want financial aid. I'm also wondering why I got this letter since I love to read into things.

We will see what happens in the next couple of weeks, best of luck to everyone. :)

lol funny story. You can't deny it when they have the "evidence" right in their hands.

they just delivered my acceptance package....oh, wonderful. best of luck to the rest of you

ahh congrats!! you're international right? I'm expecting rejection any day now...

nope, i'm an american citizen living overseas. not sure if that makes a huge difference in anything other than financial aid.....good luck

Anyone else heard/know when the letters are coming out?

I know it's a rolling basis, and I submitted my app on April 1 (at around 11pm, lol), so I'm expecting to be one of the last to hear. I'm so worried! I'm applying to be a junior (though I hope I'd only get sophomore standing if they admit me), but I only have a 3.4 GPA owing to the fact that I took very rigorous courseloads and courses outside of my major (read: physics for physics majors, when I'm an English major).

I'm so nervous!

I just got my acceptance letter this morning. What a weight off my shoulders- I was so sure that I was going to get rejected.

I guess it really is rolling, I was slow about getting my app in too, I sent it at like 5 pm on April 1 and I know some of the stuff that I had to send in hard copy (mid term reports, course catalogue pages) didn't get there until the 2nd.

jello congrats!
was it a package or just a regular envelope? and was it fed exed?

Thanks!
I actually don't know, because I had it sent to my house and I'm at school half an hour away- my mom drove it over to me but she had already taken it out of whatever it came in. I'll ask when I call home next. They sent a big folder, so it must at least have been a folder-sized envelope.

oh ok i think all colleges send big envelopes. so basically when I go check my college mailbox if I see anything other than a green slip (for picking up fed ex) i'm going to assume the worst. im sooo NERVOUS. i had a dream that all of the colleges i applied to graded my essays and i got less than a 50 out of a 100 on all of them. bad omen much??

Congrats, Jello!

Mind if I ask what your stats were?

Barnard is my dream school and i got rejected... so i realli want to transfer into barnard...

i was wonderin about ur stats
what highschool u went to
wat courses u took in college...
which college did u go to...
and what were the reasons that u wrote in ur essay?

im sorry for this flood of questions... but im like anxious abt gettin into barnard...
