I just got my Barron's Bio book and opened it up. Every page has ~20 bolded vocab words :O! Anyone have any tips on memorizing/studying? Should I go for rote memorization or would it be easier to try to understand and apply the information? And could I get a 5 using just Barrons? Read it twice? Thanks for comments..

It’s better if you’ve had the class. The AP biology class stimulated your learning by introducing you to top-level discussion as well as user-friendly labs that help you digest information.

If you can actively read Barron’s fully, then you should score a 5; I took AP Bio as a freshman and scored a 5.

It’s important to understand how each “vocab word” relates to one another. When reading, you should ask yourself - “Why does this make sense in terms of…?” or “How does that compare to…?” The AP biology exam is one that connects concepts together, and simply memorizing “mitochondria = power house for cell” doesn’t guarantee you that 5.

@ OP, its easier if you learn the concepts so that you can remember it easily… if that makes any sense.
