My library had a copy of the Barron's US History 2007 prep guide, and I of course checked it out (less money to spend).

so is barron's good for US history?...if not, what is the best prep book for US history?

anybody....

answer me please.

i remember really disliking barrons for US history. i know that i got it at goodwill, so i didn't have the latest edition, but i am not sure if it would have changed much. i seem to remember that there was a lot of focus on the essays but not enough historical review.

If you're looking for something free/cheap, then use the sparknotes study guide online. It's free, but you have to pay like $10 per test, which I don't recommend you do. There are plenty of free practice tests online if you use google.

Sparknotes: SAT II - US History
3 SAT II - US History Practice Tests

Good luck. And about the Barron's book, just use it. I can't really see it hurting your chances.

bump......more opinions please

anyone ever use barron's for ushistory exam?

I am a senior, and I used Barrons for the Jan 2007 test. I highly reccomend it. I haven't taken US History since sophomore year, and I just read it straight through to prepare (200 pages or so). It covered nearly everything I saw on the test. Don't be discouraged by the practice test! They are much harder than the real thing!

^ thank you.

anyone else?

REA is the best book for APUSH/SAT II hands down. I didn't take one practice test and just read the REA book and got a 740. Oh, and study women's right. I got all of those questions wrong...REA is weak there.

well, it's a good thing that i have REA then. But I want to know what the best SAT II specific book is for US history.

Take practice tests and go over the ones you missed, and know why you got them wrong. I thought Barron's practice test was harder than the real thing.

Use the official CB book. That way you know the content of the questions and the types of things covered. I think the real test is the best way to go. If you get the questions wrong, it explains why.
