I went on Amazon and took a look at the Barron's prep book when I noticed the negative reviews (it only recieved one star).

Besides Barron's, are there any other good prep books for the SAT II U.S. History test? Thank you.

BUMP........ Please help. I took U.S. History two years ago and I need a really good prep book. Thanks.

I liked Barrons, but I remember PR was good too.

I'm going through PR right now. Haven't taken the test yet, however, so I don't know which is the "best."

I sparknoted it and got a 780.

REA was good...got me an 800

REA? Do you mean the "Real SATII's" or something?

no REA SAT II

I picked up the PR SAT II US/World Hist, and took both tests. Got a 770 US, 750 World.

Just use sparknotes online...it's free and i thought it was really thorough and great. Without taking an AP USH class and just using sparknotes I got a 740. Also, you have the option of buying their practice tests online. I didn't, but i heard they were good too. Good luck!

Thanks shiningstar17 and others! Sounds like Sparknotes is the answer. Anyone else wants to give some suggestions?

Sparknotes.

I recently heard that the test covers some really random information. Would it be a waste of time to memorize laws and trials?

From what I understand, the trick is to learn common historical patterns, not a ton of different facts. For example, if you're asked a question about civil rights in the 1960s, it's probably about African-American rights, not women's or Native American.

You should, however, have at least some knowledge of major trials and laws, especially the Constitution. I'm also refreshing my mental list of every president. I used to have them all down, but I'm losing one or two in my old age. ;)

Hmmm... is the Sparknotes book for U.S. History available? I tried to look on Amazon and they don't have it!

ummm... its free online

Amazon doesn't sell it because sparknotes has some kind of deal with Barnes and Noble. However, the B&N site does have it available.

Primitivefuture: I want the practice questions, that why I want the book LoL.

Thanks mijehar.

i used both sparknotes and kapan (they were really good). i got 760 on my exam.

don't waste money buying the paper version of the sparknotes us sat 2
make five email accounts, and tie these accounts to five sparknotes accounts. that in itself should cover the five tests that are "meant" to be bought...
