Bay Area Transfers

I only have night class on Monday this semester so I probably don’t take the bus with you. I usually have one every semester though. I don’t know why I just really like night classes, though others would beg to differ. I figured taking a speech class would be good for me since I’m super shy and have below average social communication skills… Interestingly enough I hangout at the computer lab too, but less this semester since I only have a 1 hour break on Thursdays from 11-12 compared to last semesters 3 hour breaks (you’ll probably find me in there, asian girl with big white Panasonic headphones) Yeah we should probably meet if the times are compatible =] Are you planning to take summer classes? I’m still debating if I should.

I am taking summer classes, but I’m taking them at Berkeley. I’m currently registered for Developmental Psychopathology and Genetics & Society. If I don’t get in, I may or may not withdraw. It’ll depend on how crushed I am lol. I took 10 units of summer classes at CSM last year, so I figured I wanted to do something a bit different this time around. Are you taking summer classes?

I love night classes. I’ve had 2-3 every semester since my first at CSM. I find them very relaxing, and there are always more mature, hard-working students…as opposed to the grunge you’ll see ambling around CSM in the morning. lol jk jk…sort of…ya know what I mean lol.

Well I don’t have a M night class, or a break between 11 and 12, but if you ever want to meet up MWF after 1:00 near the drip, just let me know. I love the drip lol. I always get bagels there. ttys.

I’m thinking about taking summer classes at CSM, but I’m not sure if I really want to anymore… being so close to leaving really puts your tolerance level of community college down, but I’ve been taking summer courses ever since going to CSM I don’t know what else I would do over the summer. I took 9 units last summer and it was draining since I took the more challenging classes. I really like night class as well since the majority is older/working students they have a different mentality and are serious about their schoolwork. I also find them more willing to ask questions and help others classmates who don’t understand certain aspects of the material. Interestingly enough I don’t even have morning classes on MWF except for that speech class at night lucky me, but I’m probably going to go school in the morning the Monday after spring break since I have to record my speech depending when the lab is open. They always seem to be closed after I get out of classes on TTH

i go to skyline… i went to csm last semester

I’m originally from LA and moving to Walnut Creek this month.
I’m planning to go to DVC but curious if any of you is transferring to UC
after only one year at CCC.

I would love to transfer out within only a year but have no idea how it will work.

I have only 12 transferrable credits from my previous CCC (not DVC)
and maybe will take about 8 credits in Summer at DVC.
then, take about 20 credits over the Fall semester.
Do you guys think it’s possible for me to apply to transfer this year Fall?
(with only 20 credits if I take 8 credits in Summer)

Please help me out as I really need to transfer out soon!!!
I am too old to be around young kids in CCC :'(

i’m trying to transfer in one year…but not very seriously since i just applied to ucb and ucla figuring i might as well hope i get lucky lol, i assume they’re all semester units? if so you only need 60 and your plan seems to work to me…start with 20 units, 20 more in fall, and 20 in spring…and you could probably take a bit less in fall/spring if you take some during winter as well…

@lomkh

Thank you so so so much to reply to question.

So you think it’s possible to apply after only finishing 20 credits?
you don’t need 30 credits to apply to transfer?
becuz I will only have 20 credits compleleted and 20 credits pending when I’m applying,
right? do you think it’s ok?

Also, my understanding is that UCs don’t look at the last Spring’s GPA before transfer.
Then wouldn’t it hurt if I take 20 credits during last Spring? (in other words,
my ONLY Spring.)

So… did you apply then last year Fall?
with how many credits did you apply, may I ask?

O BTW yes they are semester units.

Thank you Thank you.

yea, you can apply with any number of units as long as you show planned completion of all requirements including the minimum unit requirement by the end of spring, and yes, i do believe it hurts to have so many untaken units planned for spring…but my understanding is that people do still get accepted like this (though their contracts generally seem to require that they maintain a higher gpa than normal i.e. a similar gpa to the one they got in fall as opposed to just a 2.0 or 3.0) plus, if you do well in fall and you have a similar courseload planned for spring i think they’ll reasonably assume you’ll do about as well in your spring courses as you did in fall

i just applied in fall and am now waiting upon ucb and ucla in a month, though i think there’s a lot of luck involved in the process so i don’t have my hopes up lol, i applied with 18 quarter units before fall and with 19 quarter units during the fall so they saw about 25 semester units worth of grades, though i have a bit over 30 semester units worth of ap units without grades as well

I go to skyline, hopefully my last year here (10-11)

sorry…am I grave digging?
