Bay Area Transfers

Ooops, forgot:
Santa Clara
De Anza College (transferred Spring '08)

Cal (British History)

I’ve been to all of these colleges <---- but i think i may end up transferring from gav… lol

1] UCLA - Philosophy
2] UCSB - Accounting and Economics
3] UCB - Philosophy ?

but im applying next year… what i hate is that if i need to apply for any scholarships; im going to have to shell out about ~60ish dollars or more… grrrr. ■■■

why the big difference in majors between UCB/UCLA and UCSB nujabes29?

because i wanna major in philosophy and minor in something related to business. so accounting at this moment but i have a premonition i’ll defect to some other business major lol. and i THINK ucb doesn’t offer a minor in accountancy… i’m still debating what my minor shall be. i know philosophy is pretty useless if ur trying to find a career within it. it’s a WONDERFUL complimentary major but unless you’re going to write books or teach philosophy; it’s gg for you.

that’s why i’m doing something in business. accountancy is like stable job but if you don’t relish your career then what’s the point in doing it? just going to end up quitting x years into it.

ah i see 10char

DVC

UCB - Environmental Economics & Policy
UCLA - Business Econ
UCSB - Business Econ
UCSD - Econ
UCD - Econ

still waiting on one of my fall grades to post tho…

dude im still waiting on a grade too. =/

hey all…i live in South Berk…
UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSB: Comp Lit
Dear god make me a bear!!!
Taking classes for spring term mostly at BCC…anyone taking any classes over there? Wanna be friends and obsess over our pending acceptances?

i dont go to BBC, but ill be ur friend and obsess over our pending acceptances lolll

@sarah1984 I’m starting at BCC in January. registered for stats, intro to biology + lab, intro to geology (bleh), and then a music class at one of the other peralta colleges if I don’t get into any UCB classes via concurrent enrollment. What are you taking?

So I’m kinda a Bay Area transfer, I’m moving there from Sac because I think my chances will be better if I’m involved with the Berkeley community. And I think my chances will be better if I’m not wasting away with everyone else in Sac lol.

But I won’t have enough units at the end of the Spring semester to have applied for Fall 2010, so it’ll be 2011 for me.
Major: philosophy
top choice: Berkeley
then Davis, Santa Cruz, and UCLA all tie for second. I’ll probably apply to SF state too, just in case.

@CantabilenApathy how did UCSC get into that mix, is there something specific about that attracts you, or is it just cuz its in norcal?

lol i just got into sf state. my first acceptance letter ever :)

@ernily CONGRATZ!!!

@calbearguy well UCSC has a solid phil department, but it’s mainly the environment. it’s not so much that I’m super attracted to norcal, it’s more of me really, really not wanting to go to a beach school-I’m pale and I hate flip flops lol. But UCSC is pretty isolated, UCD is so close to my hometown, and UCLA is…in LA, so they all just tie for a measly second. I’d much rather go to UCB, I like the idea of being close to SF, as well as UCB’s reputation for being the center for political activism and academics.

@CantabilenApathy i know what you mean about just wanting to go to UCB, i want it sooooooo baddddd.

North bay here, from Santa Rosa Junior College

Major: Computer Engineering
Schools applied too in order of preference: UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCD.

I primarily want to go south, it’s time to get a bit of distance away from home.

anyone here go to CSM? i swear, easiest school ever. i slacked off so much this semester and still got to skip 3 of my 4 finals, all As. probably because i chose some of the easiest professors of all time
anyways, my top choice is UCB, but i didn’t spend much time on those UC personal statements, so im probably very screwed considering those

is there a reason you didnt spend much time on them?

as long as your major isn’t Business Admin at Haas or Psychology, you shouldn’t worry too much about the personal statement. My friend wrote hers the night before and still got in with a 3.6 as a MCB major.

actually im pretty sure most majors need a pretty good essay, ur friend may have had something else that got her in, or maybe the applicant pool for that major was weak, you never know what the deciding factor is.
