Baylor's Pre-med

I’m considering Baylor as my top choice of college primarily for the affordable pre-med program. I have heard from students currently attending Baylor that it’s pre-med is on par with Rice. Can anyone substantiate this claim?
Furthermore, I heard that music majors have a high acceptance rate in medical school, but I’m not sure of what extent I should pursue music at Baylor. I want to take classes in a wide range of subjects, but not get overwhelmed. Any advice?

I'm not pre-med, nor was I ever particularly interested in it, so I don't know how good the program is. However, a good number of the honors students at least are pre-med.

As for taking classes in a wide range of subjects, Baylor offers a major called University Scholars, designed for people who want to do just that. Basically, you design your own major with the help of advisors, so you can take pretty much any classes you want (though you do have a few emphases). And you have less core classes you have to worry about.

Baylor has always had a high med school acceptance rate (95%) but I don't think I would put the school on par with Rice. Rice is beyond Baylor in its reputation in all areas. I think one day Baylor will get there....

When I moved in Houston in the mid-1970s, Rice was called "Harvard of the South" . It was competetive to gain entrance.

Rice University has a Rice/Baylor program--if you are accepted you go to Rice Undergrad and Baylor College of Medicine after...you are automatically accepted to both. By the way BCOM has no affiliation with Baylor University.

i applied to baylor in waco in early action i am in the 24% of my school and have an 1000 estimated on my sat do you think ill get admitted?? please answer

woah is baylor's medical school acceptance rate really around 95 percent?!??!! I heard Rice's was 93 percent, so thats kinda huge considering the academic differences betweeen baylor and rice.

LOL. Baylor's Med School Acceptance is more around 50-60%ish.

Ok thx..that makes ALOT more sense!

does anyone know how many people are in the pre-med program at baylor

Don't know, but it's a comparatively large number.

Which of the Texas University has higher rate of the students acceptance to the Medical Schools?

Where can I find this information ?
thanks.

Baylor has one of the highest acceptance rate in medical schools. They aren’t affiliated with Baylor School of medicine on paper but it’s to get federal grants and avoid religious label that hurts a medical school’s reputation in today’s world. However, BU board still controls 25% seats on BMC’s board. Baylor benefits from a good program and good guidance counselors that work much harder to get their kids accepted.
