I am new to this forum and I am wondering if someone could help me understand the pros/cons/differences of a BBA/BS in accounting. I am debating one of these degrees, but I really have no idea which one is "better". I hear that a bachelors in business administration is a useless degree, but does this apply if you major in accounting with the BBA? Would employers be more apt to hire a BBA in accounting or a BS in accounting? Which degree holds more employment/salary opportunities? I am so confused and looking for some guidance.

BS Accounting will have a core curriculum of accounting classes and likely give someone the foundation to sit for the CPA Exam. The other will likely be geared to a general business management degree witht an emphasis in accounting (fewer accounting classes). If you want a job when you graduate the BS in accounting is the way to go. If after a few years you want out of accounting and many do, then you go back and get an MBA. the higher ranked school the better. After that, consulting and investment banking is a possibility.
