BC Housing

How bad is the housing situation there? I know that freshman are split up, so which is better? I would hate to be living away from the campus and having to shuttle back and forth all the time… also, since housing isn’t guaranteed junior year, where do you live?

The housing situation at BC is not bad. My son was originally disappointed that he was assigned to the Newton campus, as he had requested Upper Campus. He's not crazy about taking the shuttle bus, but he has actually changed his mind and now really likes Newton. He says it's much easier to make friends there (since everyone is a freshman and you see them every day on the bus), the food is better at Stuart, and the grassy lawns are great for informal frisbee and soccer games.

The reason that junior year is the one without guaranteed housing is because so many juniors study abroad. Those who are still at BC rent apartments near campus. A lot of these are located near Cleveland Circle; BC runs a shuttle bus route there.

upper vs newton is always a heated debate at BC. i personally requested upper but wound up on newton. i wound up really enjoying my time there and appreciate this years housing that much more. a lot of my friends lived on upper last year and loved that too. newton was annoying at times but its only freshman year!

id say about 3/4 of my friends are living off campus next year the semester they are not going abroad. there are a bunch of houses you can get on lake st.. right across from BC campus and then apartments down comm ave. BC really makes it easy for you to find housing off campus and a lot of kids look forward to it. i have 4 years of housing so im living on campus where ever they put me 2nd semester next year. also, you can appeal for housing. my roommate only had 3 years but appealed for spring semester when she would be here and got it.

senior year msot kids move back on campus
