@transfergirl2014, you still havent heard from them?

Got in late this afternoon. Before I received e-mail I called and was told that notifications would be sent today as well as Monday and Tuesday. Good luck to everyone still waiting and best wishes to everyone else.

Accepted at like 12:30 (mountain time) today. Soooo happy about it but I feel for you guys who didn’t receive the news you were hoping for. I know what that’s like too. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear. Can’t wait to meet the rest of the transfers!! These are my stats:

H.S. GPA: 4.1
College GPA: 3.94 (at a top 50 university)
SAT: 2060
Good essay, pretty good recs.

hey guys, I was accepted today but have decided to accept an offer from another school.
I will alert Boston College immediately of my decision because I know how it feels to be on the wait-list and hopefully my decision opens up a spot for someone who really wants to go…good luck everyone!

o0o0oo0o okay everyone disregard my concerns i just realized im really ■■■■■■■■ and that the “new password” are the original credentials…geeeeee that was like so confusing /ditzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

nopeee it suckkss

@bluebayou: thanks for your input  I agree that American and BC are not even close to being in the same caliber; however, I didn’t apply to Georgetown (bonehead move on my part) and I really want to be in DC. I love it and I plan to end up living there whether or not I go to school there. And I will pursue my education in IR/Poli-sci up to my PhD, so there’s a better chance for a job with that in mind. (I think my parents were considering that field to be more lucrative relative to philosophy, which is definitely the case…unfortunately. lol). Georgetown is my goal for grad school at this point.

I’m still very much considering BC, just need to see how much money they give me. But my philosophy mentor is really pushing me toward BC - he knows how strong the philosophy dept. is, and wants to see me continue my research in such a great environment. We’ll see how things work out, I would love take advantage of this incredible opportunity.

ETA: I’m a little concerned because, should I accept BC’s offer, I won’t be able to attend transfer orientation (I’ll be in Italy on a long-planned class trip). Going to have to call them on Monday to see how that can be worked out…

Admitted students: I read the letter a little more closely and it said that the online portal will be up for us on Monday!

mmepr:

I would be surprised if you can’t attend any of the orientations. The big difference of course, would be meeting your peer students (Junior transfers), as opposed to matriculating Frosh. You could make a separate appointment for advising. The Phil is pretty chill, so that would be no problem. Just call/e-mail the Dept Admin, Ms. Waldron.

IMO, if you plan on settling permanently in DC, now is the perfect time to explore outside of it! (And I still don’t believe that IR is any more lucrative than Phil for undergrads. There are very few jobs available for either; nor for most “liberal arts” graduates, outside of Econ, for that matter.) BC does offer International Studies, however.

If you plan on grad program, undergrad college won’t matter at all. Research/work experience will be key.

I got in too!
I got in last year too, but I was worried for this year.
Still waiting to hear from Lehigh…
Should I go BC???

IMO, there are only two reasons why Lehigh might be a better choice: 1) net cost after any aid; 2) if you are interested in engineering.

@bluebayou: thanks again! I’ll be contacting the phil dept. on Monday, as well as transfer admissions to talk about options for orientation (there are plenty of frosh orientations that work for my schedule, so hopefully I will be able to work something out with them). We’ll see what goes down.

You do make a good point about exploring before I settle in DC permanently. It is true that there are a lot more networking opportunities in DC for the field I want to go into (counterterrorism), but prestige and quality of education is obviously a huge factor (and BC owns AU any day). I know I will be able to get into a top-notch grad program as long as I maintain my high GPA, establish strong relationships with my professors, and get those precious internships (all of these are part of my plan anyway) - those things can happen at any school I go to for the rest of my undergrad work. But BC is looking more attractive to me every day, to be honest. I’m even visiting again next week just to scope it out one more time and get a better feel for it before I make a final decision. :D

UGH CANT SEE MY FINANCIAL AID AWARD why do stuff like this constantly happen to me…

@fruitmoney

Did you try to copy and paste the code from the acceptance letter? I had to type it manually

@cestmattieu12, haha i actually figured it out shortly typing that comment but thanks for the suggestion! i did copy and paste and then try manually typing and then all this other crazy stuff until i found out i made yet another ridiculous mistake =P

how was everyones financial aid packages btw?

Tabs are Up! Yes  I didn’t get an email yet but this morning I checked Agora and tabs were up. Last year, I was waitlisted and rejected. Tried again as transfer and got in ! I really wanted to go BC last year so much… still can’t believe this !!!
