Is the final verdict out about whether or not we can go on the obstacle course during BCT? I remember hearing somewhere that they shut it down because some guy fell off and killed himself (not at USAFA), but they were trying to get it back in operation before BCT.

IIRC, we will be doing the O-course, but with some of the taller obstacles removed.

guess you'll find out when you get there, right? ;)

lol add to the mysterious fun :)

O-course should not be altered now. But they are taking out 2 (the best two IMO) from the confidence course: "tiltin' hilton" and the "tough one"

:( (10 characters)

Also, totally unrelated, but which of the two banks, AFCU and AAFCU, would you recommend that I get a direct deposit account with? are there any real big advantages with either?

And do you recommend any particular brand of electric shaver? Are you able to charge it during BCT 1 ?(I'm trying to figure out how long of a battery life I should buy)

You forgot about AFB, the Armed Forces Bank, which is the one I chose. They seem to have quite a few locations, which is convenient; but from what I've heard all the banks work well and you'd really be fine with any of them.

My dad found a razor with a 90 minute battery life, which, we figure, should be plenty of time to last through 2nd BCT on one charge. It's a Norelco 9160 XL.

I'm cadre for Confidence course (the "nice" one) this summer, and we're supposed to find out soon if the 2 obstacles in question will be given a waiver. We already got the rest of them, but if those last 2 don't get approved we may not be able to run it this summer.

Keep in mind the courses are under very strict observation, namely the obstacle and confidence course, so safety will be a huge issue. If they get shut down, we (the course cadre) will get integrated into flight cadre. 2011, please don't fall off the obstacles...for everyone's sake.

I have a norelco razor, it lasted me all second BCT. You can charge them in 1st BCT at night.

I think AFB is a better choice bank since its global with many locations. I'm going to be switching to USAA next year though.

So just because two obstacles may not be approved the whole course gets shut down??

No, I think he was saying that if the last two aren't approved, the course cadre for those two obstacles will be integrated into flight cadre. I highly doubt they would completely shut down the whole course just b/c of two obstacles, although I could very well be wrong.

No, I was saying the entire course would be shut down. The reason is that it isn't much of a course without those 2 obstacles, however it may still work. We'll have to wait and see.

Well I guess thats a mixed blessing...lol. And they're considering shutting them down because someone working on them got hurt??

No, the incedent was not at USAFA. It involved a major on a USAF obstacle course.

^^^ what he said.

All obstacle courses in USAF are under review.

Sucks...those were the best ones.

Oh... well that does suck. Whats the concern? Are they high obstacles or something or what?

If you fall off the Tilton hilton, its a good 30 foot drop into a rubber pit, about 20 feet for the tough one. We don't use any safety lines on them.

Wow. that is a big drop. sounds fun. :) However Im surprised more people havent gotten hurt, seeing as how high it it.
