I know my scores are on the low side, but I’m a hard working student and I know Cornell would be perfect for me. I visited there a few weeks ago and expected to hate it, but I fell in love! I know it’s a big reach, but do you think I have a shot? Please be honest.
Thanks
E.

er...... whihc of the 7 schools are you applying to?

If those scores were a lil higher I'd be saying u have a good shot...I think you have a pretty good shot, but it does matter what college

killer essays and a good interview will definitly help. you'll probably get at least guaranteed transfer. my SAT scores were around your range and i got guaranteed transfer...

Your GPA is insane, but a little weak in the SAT score.

Just try to improve your math a bit, and you'll be fine

What is a Guaranteed Transfer???

from what i understand, guaranteed transfers are denied admission freshman year, but can transfer into cornell sophomore year

I think I'd apply to the college of arts and science.

I was waitlisted to cals (bio major), so are you saying that if i dont ultimately get in they will give me guarenteed transfer? Is this a binding kind of agreement (like ED) if I am interested in it?

I don't think CALS, CAS, or Engineering do the GT if you're waitlisted but not accepted deal.
There are just too many students on the waitlist to do that.

is there one school there that I could more easily get accepted to and would having a specific major in mind help me to get accepted?

If I'm not misinformed, isn't a 4.67/4.6 (5.6 for honors) equal to about a 4.0/4.0 (5 being honors)?
That said, the GPA doesn't seem "insane" to me.

Omg I Am A Big Part Of Nfty We Must Talk

anyone else?

Like I've said, with a creative application you have a good shot. Just make sure to be creative and really show who you are and where your interests lie.

4.67/4.6 is indeed a good gpa, but it's impossible to tranfer to a 4.0 scale cleanly (although I'm sure cornell estimates it just fine). Remember uniqueness and creativity! It's not about stats, it's about filling a niche.

i got voted social action vice president of my youth group tonight! (and if it doesn't help my application then oh well cause social action is awesome anyway!) :)

Congrats! That's a great attitude.
