<p>does anyone know how often one can go to the beach? I know Brown has a surf team, but I haven’t been able to find much info about it. Does anyone know anything? first years can’t have cars so I’m wondering if there is a point to bringing my surfboard. Will I ever be able to make it to the beach i.e. catch a ride with somebody? Does the Brown outing club go to the beach a lot?</p>

<p>well I assume the beach they are talking about is Newport, which if i remember correctly is 30-40mins from campus.</p>
<p>ok well... after the first three weeks at brown, u can wear shorts.... and then you are going to be grateful that you brought your WINTER jacket, thats around november... when do you plan to go to the beach? the weather stuff i found out from talking to a brown alumni</p>
