During Beast, as a plebe you take a physical firtness exam kniwn as the APFT? How does this differ from the physical test required for admissions? What does it consist of, and what are the scores like? Thanks

The APFT is the Army Physical Fitness Test. Here is a link to information about the test including standards: http://www.army.com/enlist/APFT.html

thanks for the link, Wa mom

You'll take one APFT per semester at West Point. The one you take at the end of Beast will count towards your first semester. Once in the Army, you'll continue to take them, but I'm not sure how often.

In the Army, you have to take them every 6 months.

Continue to practive for the APFT throughout your time at West point and beyond. I have heard too many stories about cadets who didn't and regretted it. Remember that your APFT score is also used as part of your physical ranking and therefore part of your overall ranking within your class--something that will matter when it comes time to choose your branch and your posting.
