Any downsides to using community bathrooms?

Let me just say that white and black are color opposites.

That’s the silliest question in the history of CC.

No?

Number 1 I understand how you feel when it comes to bathrooms/dumps and all of that. I’m kind of a germ freak when it comes to other people I don’t know using the same bathrooms that I do. You are just going to have to get used to it. The bathrooms at U-M are very clean in my opinion because they are cleaned daily. It took some getting used to. I think you are going to be fine when it comes to using the bathrooms. Just wake up early like I do and take care of that stuff.

For guys, when you take a dump in your dorm bathroom, do you actually sit on the toilet?

No, do it on the floor or in the sink.

I only want to answer that because it’s a hilarious question, and I’m still laughing from it. If you don’t sit when you take a dump at home, then do it however you do it. I think most sit down.

Who the HECK doesn’t sit on the toilet?!?

^lol, believe me, there are toilets in other countries where you have to crouch to take a dump. I’ve been there, and man, does it suck!

^
haha I know exactly what you’re talking about. It’s just a big hole in the ground lol

Black bedsheets tend to fade quickly after a few washings. Also they tend to get covered with lint if you wash them with towels.

Are you talking about where there is just a hole in the ground (like in India, I don’t know where else) or where the toilet is just disgusting (like that one in Trainspotting).

"2. For guys, when you take a dump in your dorm bathroom, do you actually sit on the toilet?

Any downsides to using community bathrooms? "

The fact that you ask number 2 is your answer for number 3.

Having to share the bathroom with people who ATTEMPT to squat over the toilet is one downside to a community bathroom.

I used the ladies showers at south quad at orientation and liked it better than my shower at home. But when there are more people living there it’s possibly not as nice, and though I don’t have much college experience I have been informed that boys are gross so maybe the boys bathrooms are worse, I dunno.

can anyone else answer question 1? Does it get dirty quick?

Well dirt as in DIRT, no, you wont be able to see anything on it that isn’t lint or… you know. But they still get just as dirty as any other color and should probably be washed occasionally even if you can’t see the dirt. o.O

The color of your bed sheet is directly related to the amount of dirt it collects? o_O

Not to the amount of dirt it collects, but the amount of dirt that is visible. If you don’t wash lighter colored sheets for a long time, your body’s oils and most likely sweat will make them appear dirty-- because they ARE dirty. Black sheets are just as dirty but won’t appear as dirty because you wont see stains from the oils.

Though that’s still pretty gross.

Nah. All the bathrooms tend to stay pretty nice, all the time, because of the incredible frequency of cleanings. Worst case scenario is someone throwing up in there late on a weekend night and not having that cleaned until the next day. Didn’t happen terribly often in my experience.

the one with the hole on the ground is like a public restroom in my native hometown(a poor village in China), but in certain families, they have that couch type of toilet installed, and it’s flushable…
so its just not just a hole on the ground lol.

Hey, I’m a girl, but that means I should be sitting on the toilet each time I use the toilet. If you’re afraid of germs (btw, many people pointed out I’m a germaphobe) just cover the toilet seat with toilet paper, then sit down. Problem solved.

As for bedsheets, I’m going with navy blue and U of M-ish blue. Lint has never been a problem for me as far as bedsheets. Clothes, yes. Bedsheets, no.

I got navy sheets, too. If that’s a super popular color it’s going to be annoying laundering them. I hadn’t really thought of that.

If you are in an all-freshmen dorm like Markley, the dorm bathrooms can get quite disgusting on the weekends since they aren’t really cleaned. Sundays are the worst because of all the puking, trashing, etc. from two nights of partying collects.

@ TwistedxKiss:

Personally I would launder them with some of my clothes. Then other people can’t really mix them up because obviously the rest of the load doesn’t belong to them.
