Underage or not, I find it infuriating that Bela Karolyi, who long has been against age limits, is now suddenly against it simply because he views China as a threat. What a hypocrite. Also, other countries have reallly young looking gymnasts who weigh in the 70s, but they haven't been investigated because they are not considered to be a threat.

^^^ sorry, I meant Karolyi has long campaigned against age limits, but now is tirading against Chinese gymnasts because he's a sore loser.

The U.S. is wasting Spain.

Underage or not... advantage or disadvantage.. rules are rules. If the allegations are true, China is breaking the rules (again).

Why is everyone censuring China for breaking the law? Just because they "appear" to be feeble, short and youthful does not give the right for these obstinate allegations. This type of situation is regarded as a double standard, if America won, there would simply be no mass controversy involved.

Altercation solved.

Go back and read post #120, insomniac.

As I said earlier, it's not as if the U.S. has never won medals in unfair fashion (recently: Marion Jones and Paul Hamm). I just hope future Games are less controversial.

Underage or not, I think we all ought to wait for the final decisions to be taken by International Olympic Committee. As outsiders, what we hear and see are only bits and pieces of information+rumors+spiced up media reporting.

And yes, I agree with nbbachris2788. I do hope future Games would be a little less controversial, since the current one has already been made into a battle field for politicians, extreme activists, and lots of fame-seeking journalists...

the beijing olympics spelled trouble even at the VERY beginning of the opening ceremony

so i doubted this one was going to be any less problematic

Nonetheless, I think the general consensus around the world has been that China's done preparing for all of this, an admirable effort of 1.3 billion people.

So Phelps definitely won his 8th gold yesterday!!! That's just so absurd!

Go US Womens soccer team! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! :D

No!!!! Liu Xiang pulled out of the Olympics! :O

I know... but he was injured so....

wow liu xiang's news in on every channel every 5 seconds.... they're just rubbing it in.

So many chinese screwed up this time... they could've gotten like 5 more gold at least.. but oh well everyone screws up and china already got more gold than ever before

I feel sorry for Nastia Liukin. I thought she should have won on the uneven bars.

i feel sorry for liu xiang. and the girl who would've won the vault.

well I guess it isn't very fair, but look at how she took it. The rules was set before the games started, they should know. I mean sure she spend a lot of time training and would've liked a gold, but still she wasn't humble and you can she her expression which made me... not like her so much. Apoor sport like that don't deserve gold.

I felt sooo sorry for Cheng Fei when she started crying. She had the highest qualifying scores in so many of these disciplines, but her event final performances just flopped for seemingly no apparent reason.

I actually think the bronze medallist Yang on uneven bars should've gotten the gold. Her routine looked so perfect from start to finish, and it had the same start value, so I don't know why she's standing on the lowest step instead of the highest one.

I do love watching and laughing at Bela Karyoli going nuts everytime things don't go the way he wants.

I wish the world could stand up to the cheating Chinese.

You mean the world should stand up to the "cheating" Paul Hamm, who "won" all-around at Athens, because of a mathematical error?

BBC SPORT | Olympics 2004 | Gymnastics | Hamm to keep Olympic gold medal

It is so funny when people readily accept the outcome when the rules are in their favor, but cry foul otherwise.

I agree that Yang, the bronze medalist for the uneven bars should have been awarded the gold, ahead of He and Liukin.

no rule is in MY favor, because i don't know any of the athletes.

In fact, before the olympics, the only athletes i heard of were liu xiang and michael phelps.
