<p>I was admitted Early Action to UVA, and was admitted to the Echols Scholars Program. Unfortunately, my 3rd quarter grades have been abysmal. I know it is no excuse, but a combination of a huge surgery that put me in the hospital for an extended amount of time, and some senioritis combined to result in my final overall grades essentially becoming one C, mostly B's, and two or so A's. My overall QPA and GPA are hardly affected, as I have worked very hard from Freshman through Junior year. Are there chances that I will be rescinded for the C? And do Echols Scholars have higher standards for maintaining admission?And is there a chance I could be pulled from the Echols program but maintain admission? I have already committed to UVA, and the echols program was a fairly large factor in my decision. Lastly, does anybody know of any cases where someone was rescinded? i've read many comments such as "you might get a letter" etc. etc. But i have never seen any account of anybody actually being rescinded. Thanks.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If you really only have 1 C and rest Bs/As, I don’t think admissions would rescind your offer. Even the best of us get/got senioritis, and the administration knows this. Unless you have several Ds/Fs on your 2nd semester report, I would be shocked if your offer got rescinded. </p>
<p>In the extreme scenario that they do end up contacting you, explain your situation. Surgery is a pretty big deal, especially if you missed a considerable amount of class due to it. I also don’t think that they will pull you from the Echols program. Generally, Echols scholars are held at higher standards than the rest of the UVA body, but thats really only in terms of credits/GPA once you actually begin taking classes at UVA.</p>
