Being withdrawn after acceptance?

So recently I have been accepted to two state schools in illinois, Northern and Southern Carbondale. I am leaning towards Southern but I have a bit of a dilemna. My Pre Calculus teacher has been out all year and I made a major jump from Algebra 2 Honors to Pre Calc. (Supposed to take Trig/ Algebra 3 Honors before Pre Calc). I passed with a D and I failed physics. This is because I got a little lazy and my job took control of me. My family is pretty poor so money comes first in our family unfourtantly. Will I be withdrawn or can I make up with it 2nd semester. Im taking Trig next semester and dropping physics next semster as well. I feel like if I can get straight A's like last year I should be fine but you never know. Any advice?

The people that know best work in admissions at those 2 schools. Call them! People that work in college admissions generally like kids and want to help them get their education. As an article in the UC Davis magazine says

They are going to see your transcript eventually, and part of their job is looking at how students have done their senior year. By taking the mature approach of facing up to your problems you are helping position yourself as a kid they want to help, instead of one that hopes they can slink by unnoticed. Indeed many colleges require you to notify them immediately if you change your class schedule or fail a class first semester (check the docs you received after you submitted your apps).

We need to be honest here. Not passing 2 classes is a big deal. There is a real chance they revoke your acceptance. But you have many more options if you start to work with them now (retake the class, summer school, etc) if that’s what they require. None of those options will be available if you wait until they see your transcript mid-summer.

One hint when you talk with them is to take responsibility for your choices and actions. Blaming a teacher makes a bad impression. On the other hand there is no reason not to be forthright about your family situation; if you have to work, that takes time away from studying.

Best of luck to you. Let us know how things turn out.

I agree that you need to call and find out. It is possible you have lost your spot and you will need to know that as soon as possible so you can make other plans while there is still time.
