As I'm going into my sophomore year (2014-15) I want to join some new clubs and perhaps drop one or two in order to boost my college application. I'm currently on my school's Chess Team and FBLA, and I played soccer on the school's freshman team. First off, are chess team and FBLA solid things to put on a application? I'm not exactly 'nerdy' so I feel that chess, a activity that I enjoy, will boost it. I'm considering adding Mock Trial and Model UN to this list, but was wondering if they will truly make a difference on a college application, or if I should seek out a different activity. Finally, I could be a fringe player on my schools JV and then Varsity team (my city is wild about soccer) or be a starter on a respectable club soccer team. Will a college accept a club team in the same way that they accept school teams? Thanks for your help in advance!

They don’t really care what you do specifically, just that you’re dedicated to it and accomplished in it.
