UC Admissions

Any chance that your S plays in the wind ensemble or orchestra at school? That usually does the trick with my Ds and their friends. The requirement doesn't make a lot of sense: we had a friend whose D was an accomplished violinist (taking lessons, etc.) and a professional mariachi band member. She certainly knew music and had lots of performance experience.

But that didn't work to fulfill the a-g requirement. She ended up taking a class at the local CC.

No, the only music in his life was back in middle school. I think he's found a CC class he can take that'll fit the bill, but it just seems crazy to me to spend the time and money on it. At least it doesn't start til after appl. are due--he'll just state on the application that's he's signed up for it.

The UCs are known for rescinding admittance if you don't follow through with promised requirements.

DeniseC--Oh definitely he'll take it if he puts it on the appl., thanks for the tip. I just meant that at least he doesn't have to spend time at this class while applications are still underway, as the class starts in Jan.

Oh good. I thought you probably meant that, but was also afraid that someone else might interpret it to mean that they could intend to do something and not follow through.

It is sooo busy trying to get everything done in time. Best of luck.

Yes, it was a good idea to make that clear. Yes, first semester senior year is busier than I thought it would be! I have general free-floating anxiety about things like this that will slip through the cracks.
