Berkeley Decision Thread

i love the berkeley campus! true, it's surrounded by a crumby looking city, but the school has a very historically rich feeling to it. and the buildings are beautiful! if you guys go to visit, take a ride up the campanile (the clock tower) and roam around the botanical garden (you take a shuttle up a huge hill). you'll find everything you need within walking distance, though the campus itself is very hilly.

i absolutely love berkeley's campus...its so urban yet soooo incredibly beautiful. And the weather there rocks, compared to wear i live...100degree summers!

well i have to say lilomui... socal weather is better. :-P berkeley summers are hot (and at times really humid), but the other seasons are pretty chilly.

lilomui: What's your GPA? And do you have all your pre-requisites done?

Berkeley's campus is pretty nice. The libraries are incredible. It's a really green place year around, and I like it quite a bit.
The town is a dump for the most part, and the constant requests from panhandlers get rather annoying (there's liberal economic policy in action for ya). However, there is a lot of good food :)

Contrary to the person above me, Berkeley summers are NOT hot. You are right on the water, so you'll rarely see much above 80 degrees in the summertime. Most people don't have (or use) air conditioning.

seemingly impossible for me to live in a library; i've been doing so the past two years during my cc tenure...no social life. now i am in for some fun once i transfer...anticipating to enjoy other things that rock my boat.

hehe i'm the opposite! Last 2 years have been pretty laid back. It's much harder and more competitive at a UC so I plan on living in a library or holed up in a dorm for the next 2 years.

i tell ya, i pro'ly am going to take the min. coarseload my first sem.

Yea the first semester it's harder to get into the classes you need anyways because you don't declare your major until the end of your 1st semester there and they give preference to declared majors. I just hope I get in some decent classes.

InSuboRdiNaTioN:
3.8gpa
economics major
all pre-reqs done

but since economics is an impacted major...im sure there are tons of ppl with identical stats as me, so its a matter of other things that'll factor into my admission/rejection.

Yes, there will be a lot like you, but you are competitive, and stand a good chance in my opinion (assuming you have strong essays).

I think the average transfer GPA into econ might be just slightly below the 3.8 mark, so you're doing pretty well.

i dunno if my essay is strong or not..heck, i dunno how they even evaluate the essays as 'strong' or 'weak' or whatever.

i dont think i'll be able to sleep tonight :( ah well, stay up playing roller coaster tycoon :P beat the next level!

I don't think I can sleep either. Don't be so down on yourself lilomui. Good luck!
