Berkeley or UCLA for Anthropology?

I got accepted into both schools for this fall (2016) and I’m having the worst time deciding. I’ve been doing research but I still can’t tell which one is right for me. I like both campuses (I live 35min away from UCLA) and I’m still waiting on updated financial aid (which is the biggest factor for me right now). I have friends and both campuses, although my Berkeley friends always complain about the workload, yet they are STEM majors so I don’t really take their opinions into consideration.

I want to focus on sociocultural anthropology. Does one school have better opportunities/courses for this concentration? I just want to get my decision over with! :-S

I was also accepted into UCSD, UCI, and UCSB, but I’m not really considering them anymore.

Bottom line: which would be better and why?

Commute or not?
Home or away?
Quarter or semester?

Have you visited both?

Have you talked to an advisor at each school?

No commuting (takes too much of my time)
I’m really up in the air on staying closer to home or being far away. Regardless, I have friends and family near or at each school.
I really like the semester system, but that’s because I’m used to it.

I have visited, but both were non-school days so I didn’t get the feel of what it would be like on a regular day.

I have not

Try to visit UCLA during the school day, visit the advisors at Haines, and perhaps drop in on a class.

Try to do the same at Berkeley. You really need to see them during the school day.

Thanks. I don’t really have the time to visit Berkeley right now, since the deadline is June 1st and I have work, but maybe I’ll call some advisors.
