@Amypjh: have you done your homework? I am very familiar with Berkshire. It certainly is a special place and does have a number of unique characteristics. The school is more than happy to crow about them on its website! Have you read it thoroughly and done your research? Or are you looking for information that is not on the website, as in info from the perspective of current students?

Thanks for replying @cameo43 Yes I have looked carefully on to the website. Everything just looks so great to me that I can not really pick out some specific areas to talk about. It would be helpful If I am able to get some info from perspective of current students. Just tell me about your opinion and view towards Berkshire if you know it well. What strikes you and how does Berkshire differ from other private schools?

The mountains.

what???

The school is like in the mountains which is really cool. The mountains are what makes Berkshire different. @Amypjh

Berkshire is my alma mater (ages ago by the way)! I ended up transferring there from Choate because I felt Choate was too big for me. I liked it because of the ice hockey, the family like atmosphere, and the laid back vibe of the student body. Yes, the mountain IS what makes Berkshire unique. I spent many, many weekends hiking up that mountain. It’s so much a part of the school’s persona.

@southbel Thanks for your information!

I am a current student and there is much that sets apart Berkshire from other schools. When I went about finding a prep school I visited a couple of other well known larger schools and found that Berkshire was the best fit. Berkshire puts very big emphasis (I mean huge) on family. It is a very welcoming place. The environment is comfortable for everyone. Academically it is challenging, you can push yourself but not be overwhelmed. The mountain is something that makes Berkshire truly unique. It is something that is incorporated into all aspects of the school. Whether or not you like hiking and the outdoors it is a beautiful place.
