I took the ACT last April and got a 30 composite. However, I only got a 22 in reading and 28 in english. (35 in science, 34 in math). So I basically just want to improve my reading and english scores. Anyone know any good tips or books I should use? All help will be appreciated.

Only way to improve your Reading is to improve your reading speed and comprehension. Make yourself read more and your Reading score will improve. For English, you can check Silverturtle’s guide in the SAT section, which has a VERY detailed English grammar section. Learning all the grammar rules should help you.

I read Sparknotes for tips om grammar. For reading, I just did a lot of practice over and over again.

crash course for ACT recommends only focusing on 3 of 4 reading selections…read summaries, pick your fav 3 and concentrate on them. Scan questions first and answer those looking for dates, proper noun answers by scanning the selection. Only read whole selection if you have to…their premise is it’s impossible to read all 4 thoroughly and answer the questions. After you finish 3, check time and address 4, if running out of time, fill in bubbles.
